been thru the course and not really very interested in anything other than a paper making me eligible to get my ccw back. Th first time was good for me. I took Steve Johnson's course. It was very informative and helpful. Now, again, just looking for the least coin to drop to get the paper.
Any suggestions?

You can get this with no class. Good to carry, can’t use for purchase.

Pretty sure there aren’t online options for NC classes (unless they made exceptions for covid?) but interested to see if there are options

NC class has a shooting portion, don’t believe it can be avoided.
This ^^^ , must pass a shooting proficiency qualification course. Therefore must attend in person.

Someone was kind enough to pm me that my sheriff (who is a GREAT guy, btw!!!!) teaches the ccw himself. Only charges 80 dollars or so. I wanna take it just in case I need to know someone :). Will probably sign my daughter and wife up for the course, too. I don't mind the ftf. I just want cheap.

I've had the class twice, first time was while certs did not expire, then they changed law and cert was dead in a year.
Both times class was taught by a Deputy from local Sheriff's dept. I think each ran $80.

Keith Stone (Nash co sheriff) is great! He made the decision NOT to enforce the state lockdown laws back during the covid insanity, and as a result, you could mostly go in and out of public venues without a mask, while absolute hysteria reigned in the rest of the state. If a proprietor or a business ASKED YOU to mask, then of course we would, as it is their business. (the big chains were different.... I would wear a stocking/hose "bandana" type mask when at WalMart, for example). Stone said flat out he would trespass you if the stores demanded it, but almost all local businesses were not involved in the idiocy. Keith Stone helped them feel free to follow their own convictions, and not those of some nutjob in Raleigh/DC.

I would vote for him solely on that basis...., plus he is a serious 2A advocate.

I just got mine with a certificate that was over 3 years old

They keep the certificate when you apply for the permit.
Yes sir. I’m just saying that the certificate I turned in to get my permit was over 3 years old. I took the class sometime in 2019 and just applied and got my concealed carry permit a couple months ago.

I think the class certificate is good for 5 years just like your CHP.

Considering the new standard of review for 2A cases established by the Bruen decision, as well as the fact that multiple communist states immediately reacted with a middle finger and even more unconstitutional restrictions on ownership and carry, I wouldn't be surprised to see another SCOTUS case go through the pipeline relatively quickly to clarify that any criteria outside of "this person is/isn't a prohibited person" may not be considered in the permitting process.

Even better would be a complete abolition of permitting schemes in response to the wanton disregard shown by states like NY.

Regardless, I very much doubt that states will be able to require things like "purchase permits" or force you to purchase a training course for a "carry permit", give up your fingerprints, etc. after the next year or two.
