So... most of you that haven't been under a rock the past couple weeks know about hurricane Florence that hit NC and our sister SC.

I take two of my 3 vehicles ( DirtySCREW and my daughter's car) to Greenville SC to avoid the 25' storm surge we we're supposed to get in Wilmington. I didn't want to gamble with my family's lives and be on my roof hoping coast guard could rescue me.

Long story short: wife's Toyota had something smack the windshield and put about a 10-12 crack at the bottom. We noticed moisture on the inside of the windshield when we got home.

Just switched to progressive about a month ago. I thought I had $500 deductible for collision and ZERO deductible for comprehensive. Nope. ....$500 on each. So goes the scam...I mean insurance industry....I've got to pay out of pocket!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

"I thought I had $500 deductible...."

Sorry for your situation but whose fault is the deductible issue really?

.

Didn't know that.. thanks

I hate Progressive. I have Allstate, and they had Safelite come out and change my passenger side window in the truck while I was watering tomatoes, all free of charge.

Sorry for all the grief. I know it's been a rough couple of days for you.

New windshield will run you $225 or so. Sucks, hope that’s the extent of your storm expenses.
Safelite is $367 after all the fees!

That sucks.

Not sure I'd have expected Progressive to protect me from Flo.

OK, the windshield is 2 layers of glass with a layer of plastic between them. It's possible to leak on a large crack, but unlikely. I'd give it a bit to double check. When I had mine replaced I mentioned leaking and was told there was pretty much no way it would leak. And mine went side to side nearly the width of the windshield on a Toyota Tacoma. I let mine go for a couple years before I got tired of it.

My USAA policy is $0 deductible and no penalties for glass. They rock.
We just went rounds with USAA . They like to email/call every 6 mo for address verification, on auto insurance. They failed to change our email add when we move years ago. Because they didn't get someone they cancelled our auto insurance. Then they informed us due to Floyd coming in 2 days they will not issue restatements, and they never missed a payment. NC gubmnt doesn't like that and will fine you.
It took over 5 hours on the phone raising Cain to get them to correct their error.
They screwed my son in a similar way three months ago when he went to make a claim.
They're fired as soon as we find their replacement, I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire.

ALL insurance is of the devil (except Aflac)!!!

It is legalized robbery in my opinion. Hey let's get premiums for years and then deny any and all claims from millions of people. Hmmmm

I'm in the car business, buy a fair amount of windshields, get a volume discount. I can help you out, but would be sometime next week most likely.
I'll text you.

I'll check Aflack. We were very pleased with Erie until they fired us (son's driving), I'll see if they'll have us back.

Pretty sure Aflac doesn't do car insurance
Not that I'm aware of. We had them as a secondary insurance when my wife was pregnant with my daughter. Not only were office visits covered...they sent US a check for going!!! Paid like $100 for everything at hospital total!!!!!
