New Ghostbusters

Hmm... They did chicks, time for kids... Definitely looks better than that last abortion of a film.

I'll watch pretty much anything with Paul Rudd in it. It really needs a Murray cameo...

Meh, I'll give it a watch.

the other movie that came out that claimed to be Ghostbusters but was just unfunny comediennes.

That was horrible. IMDB has it rated at 5.2 - which seems awfully high. By comparison, Steven Segal's last flick is rated 4.6.

It looks very Stranger Things like with the Kids being the center of the plot. Even the scenes with the red fiery pit made me immediately think of Stranger Things.

Looks better then I would have guessed. Zero chance I will see it in theater but might be worth a search on fire stick.

I’m wondering how they handled Harold Ramis’s stuff in the story line … since he died about 8 years back?
Without doing the spoiler thing I will say it was done tastefully
And I'm guessing his family had to approve

There's a few plot holes, but overall I really liked the movie. I'd go back to the theater to see it again. If you are not a fan of the original, you probably won't like this one, a lot of references and throwbacks.

I enjoyed this new one but when I was a kid, me and my dad wore out the Ghostbusters VHS, we played it so much.

I’d say they maybe did a little too much fan service.

You lucky bastard. One of the only films our family had was Ghostbusters 2. I was raised an awful mutant, preferring the second to the first.

So Ghostbusters: Afterlife is exactly......EXACTLY......the treatment filmmakers ought to bring to beloved franchises. Something for the fans of the original 2, and something for an entirely new generation to take the story forward.

Whereas Kathleen Kennedy and Disney botched the entirety of the Star Wars sequel trilogy by destroying everything that came before with a razed Earth-New disjointed vision non-plan.....that was just....terrible. Coincidentally, it's the same terrible formula that made the Ghostbusters remake in 2016 suck so bad.

Afterlife is the perfect formula to reboot a franchise....not just for old fans, but for a generation of new ones as well. Henry (my 6 year old) loved it, Peyton (my 10 year old daughter)loved it (or at least liked it enough to say it was good), and I loved it.

A porn spoof would be fun to watch.

Other than that, I don't see other remakes/sequels doing very well.

We went to see it at the theater in Boone while we were there. I thought they did a fantastic job of it. I had been looking forward to it coming out for awhile. I wasn’t disappointed

I found it entertaining even without being a big fan of the previous movies. I thought the original was OK and don't think I ever saw the first sequel. McKenna Grace stole the show as Phoebe. I thought her brother was a dead ringer for the Hillside Strangler.

I enjoyed it enough to not fall asleep like I usually do when taking the kids to a movie.

Also, if you are 'looking for it', the PC/Woke stuff could be found. But it's not as in-your-face as something like Avenger's End Game with their "Grrrllll Power"

Watched it with the family on Saturday. In all honesty, I expected it to be a big “meh”, but they wanted to see it. I was totally wrong. Very enjoyable movie ! It was well made and just fun.

Me and the kids just got home from watching the movie. The kids and I watched the original Friday night and I'm glad we did. This movie was basically a "volume 2" for the franchise. The entire plot of this movie is a direct tie in to the first movie from 1984.

To me this was an official passing the torch to the next generation so that the franchise can continue on.

I also thought that this movie was a great tribute to Harold Ramos. It was handled in one of the best way possible.

Just finished this movie, and I quite enjoyed it. Was it as good as the original? No, but it wasnt bad at all. It was SOOOO much better than the all-female cast one. And, I liked that it was so much like the original. Including the Stay-Puffs

Where can you find it these days? I missed it, and it sounds like it's worth watching.

Seeing Dan's post, maybe it was on Starz, not HBO. I dont know, they all run together for me, hard to keep up with on the satellite.
