Hello all!

I’m new to this site. A new resident of North Carolina. My wife and I lived in Washington state for the last decade. We wanted to live closer to our relatives, who live here and in Georgia. We absolutely love how friendly and nice people are down here! It is true...people are more friendly in the South.

Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Thank you, everyone, for all the greetings and warm welcomes!

Henderson County. You re close enough to be called a neighbor. I'm down the mountain in Rutherford.

Yes, sir! You’re my neighbor! :)
Standard initiation question: What mayonnaise do you like and do you like sweet tea?o_O

My family grew up with Best Foods mayo only. I see that it’s called Hellman’s mayo out here.
Sweet tea? I love the Gold Peak diet sweet tea! I’m trying to stay low carb due to health issues. Does that count?
Did I pass the initiation? :)

You're in the ball game with us now Markie......jump right into the mix sir.

And stick with the product selections in my signature line and I'll defend you to the end bro...……..:D
Tips to hang in there with the best of us are as follows:

  • Go to the grocery store asap and pick up a couple of jars of Dukes mayo...…(one for the fridge and one in the cupboard so you DON'T run out.
  • The topping for banana pudding you will prefer from now on is meringue...….any cook worth their keep will know how to prepare this and would absolutely never ruin a banana pudding with anything else. (you wouldn't want to be caught dead with a serving of banana pudding that has some crud on top of it like Cool Whip, whipped crème, or anything remotely close to that.) Meringue topping is the only approved topping that will allow you to keep your man card on here. Don't let someone else on here try and get you to post that other toppings are acceptable below the Mason-Dixon line. :D
  • Don't hesitate to join us down at the Battery Oaks and meet @BatteryOaksBilly ………..some of us around there will share the other little forum secrets that are in place to make your stay much more enjoyable here and help you fit right in.
  • There are quite a few more meet ups and other events that CFF members participate in. Check us out by attending them if at all possible.
There are your keys to success my friend.

I have to change my previous answer. I did try Dukes mayo. Dukes is my in-laws brand. Very similar taste to Best Foods/Hellman's. Miracle Whip is awful. I tasted that in my younger years...and swore I will never eat that again. That and any "lite" mayo. If you're eating mayo, it should be the real thing! Just my opinion.

With regards to banana pudding...I haven't tried any toppings on it yet. I just eat it as banana pudding. Absolutely delicious! I shall try meringue next time.

I don't want to sound cliche...but wow...you guys really do fried chicken and biscuits so much better down here! Having lived in the Pacific Northwest for the past 10 years, my wife and I haven't had any decent fried chicken. Our selections are basically Popeye's, Church's and KFC. Even your Popeye's here in the South is so much better! Regarding biscuits, I never knew what a difference using White Lily flour makes. Night and day difference.

Wife and I were pleasantly surprised how friendly people are down here. Cashiers at stores would address us as "Honey" and "Sweetie" Never would we hear that on the west coast. Everyone here saying "Merry Christmas" We love it here. It is our idea of how America should be. People being kind to one another.

Thank you again for all the keys to success! I really do appreciate it.
