Just installed a set of Bilstein 5100s around all four corners of my son's Jeep today. Had to use a sawzall to cut the top nut off the two front shocks. I was worried I may not have enough room to get to them with the saw and have to use a torch but it turned out I had room. I don't like using a torch around gas shocks. Nice little project for a beautiful Saturday.

That's a nice set of shocks. I had a set until I converted to coilovers.

Did you opt for BPEs with yours for that extra inch or two of travel?

That's a clean undercarriage for a TJ. Good on you for teaching him how to take care of his stuff and good on him for listening.

Nah. I just got the stock OEM style. I let him take it down to Uhwharrie a month or so ago and he quickly realized that he needs this vehicle to be dependable. You know, getting to drive to and from his girlfriend's house and driving her around, etc...... Lol.

He does a good job. He begged me to let him take it off-roading recently. So I let him get it out of his system. He learned very quickly not to do that again with his daily driver Jeep. He spent a lot of time cleaning it up afterwards. It's amazing what a mixture of Dawn dishwashing detergent and Hydrogen Peroxide can do underneath a muddy vehicle.

I've been thinking about getting a set for my Tacoma do they ride good?

My son just took it for a short ride and couldn't believe how smoother the ride was.

I put a set on my 06 Tacoma not long before I got rid of it and they were fantastic! It really was a big improvement. Factories had around 175k so were getting a little bouncy.

Mine has 85k but the roads have gotten rough around town and on 77 north lately.
