New year, new... carry ammo

My nice shiny Hornady stuff is looking kinda... tarnished. Time to swap this stuff out.

Some people just shoot their old carry ammo, I keep it in boxes labeled "old" away from the fresh stuff. That way if I have to break in a new carry gun I have lots of my preferred type of ammo to test with.

Carry ammo is subject to environmental factors like exposure to sweat, gun lube, humidity and such. If you unload your gun often you shouldn't re-chamber the same round more than 2 times or you risk the projectile getting pushed back into the case plus the case itself gets nicks and burrs which could cause malfunctions. Replacing your carry ammo at least once a year is a good idea.

Yep, knocking the projectile back into the case can will I crease pressures when the trigger is pulled. While it’s unlikely it will do catastrophic damage the firearm why take the chance of it or even risk excessive wear and tear on parts when a simple rotation can prevent it.

If I have to shoot that cartridge in self-defense then the last thing on my mind is excessive wear and tear. Heck, if anything I might appreciate the extra velocity!

You won't like it your gun comes apart due to an over pressure round caused by bullet setback, especially if you are in a self defense situation.

With .32s, all ammo is carry ammo. With .38s, you can unload and reload all day with no setback.
