Looking to add another AR15 to the collection. I have narrowed it down to Son of Libert Gun Works M4-EXO2 or a Daniel Defense DDM4V7. Just for context, I already own a BCM Recce MCMR 16 inch and an Centurion arms CM4 Mid-weight 16 inch. I wanted to get opinions from members who have experience good or bad with either rifle or with either company. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

For diversity … FN-15 M16 Edition. A tribute type rifle w/20” barrel, A2 stock, Knights rail and rear sight … just something a little different and fun besides the same old M4forgery stuff.

Definitely another option with the added cool factor of being a high quality military copy. Thanks for the reply.

SOLGW is great for the cost. But they're on par with your BCM and CM4 already. I'll never buy DD anything; they're overpriced for what they are.

You've already dominated the mid-tier - save a little more and go up to a Knights, LMT, or Radian. Honestly, my suggestion for your price range is to check out American Defense. Their ambidextrous lowers are so nice and their detail & design is well done.

Thanks for the recommendations and your reply. Will look at those as well

I personally would go with a longer (20”) or a shorter (10.3-11.5”). You got the 16” covered. I know it is an opinion, but I love DD and can’t say enough good about them. SOLGW is a good option too.

I have a DDM4V7 and love it, but for fun I still reach for my 7.5" homebrew bits and pieces AR Pistol...

If I had the choice you have I'd probably go with the DD, but I don't have any experience with the Sons of Liberty - they look like a fine rifle.

No decent mags. There are no high cap glock brand 45 mags. ALL the aftermarket 45 glock pattern high cap mags suck balls. There are much better options for 45 AR's. Ive run them all. 45 ACP AR's are my weakness.
what about Kriss mags?

What mags do you like for a .45 AR?

Seems to me that a .45 short barreled AR with a pinned and welded suppressor to make it a 1 tax stamp gun would make an excellent home defense platform.

Grease gun. Seriously. They work fantastic. Macon Armory also makes a extremely reliable conversion set for the standard AR mag well. Their mags are proprietary but they're good mags.

DD is not a bad company but other than their rail system, which is arguably dated, they do not offer much that most other companies do not do. I would echo @HangingJudge sentiment and look at KAC, LMT, Radian, or LWRC for more of an upper tier system. I would also do a 14.5 in P&W or do a pistol/SBR at around 11.5 in barrel. Personally my 11.5 in LMT is used much more than my 16in KAC because it will do pretty much everything the KAC can but in a smaller package. If you are absolutely dead set on the companies you listed than I would do Sons of Liberty of DD.

Another option to keep the AR platform but be different would be to do a .308/7.62 AR. I owned a CMMG MK3 previously and I am currently building an LMT .308 to be able to reach out a little further than 5.56 and have a little more oomph when it hits.

Thank you for the information and definitely some ideas to consider

Based on your experience, If you were goilg to build a dedicated suppressor host .45 AR, what brands / parts sources would you use?

CMMG bolt and barrel. They will handle loads into the 45 Super / Rowland range.
Any 458 Socom upper receiver. Cannot use a pistol upper unless it has the cutout for the bolt cam. Most dont.
RMWXtreme grease gun mag lower. Ron will convert mags for free. Just a notch in the side.
Whatever trigger you want
10 Oz buffer.
Carbine spring. Plus power for heavy loads.
Keep Shooting makes and sells reproduction grease gun mags that surpass the quality of the overpriced originals.

If you have an existing AR lower you want to use the same upper components can be used with a Macon Armory mag well adapter. They use a proprietary mag but the mags are very high quality although theyre a real bitch to load without a loading tool that they also supply.

I have both.

I second what he said. I bough an LMT and...dang. Had no idea how nice it was gonna be.
