I think there are a number of scenarios that are reasonably possible if not downright probable: more superbugs/viruses, "non-intentional energy screw-up" (i.e., nuke accident), and certainly any electronically-controlled "system" going belly up (be it finance, power, whatever). There are first-world countries that cannot reasonably maintain its' power grid, and California in the US comes to mind.

Bigger crisis = greater need for control...you know...”for our own good”.

Mark my words.

C19 was/is a beta test.

You’ve got Cuomo up in NY now dictating just how many can gather in a PRIVATE RESIDENCE (no more than 10).

These tyrannical fools are fixing to find out how little power they really have.

As a society we're so dependent on the internet now that we'll be in deep trouble if it goes down for any length of time.

I've got books for entertainment, a generator for light, and kerosene and propane for heat. no doubt work will be impossible, but i'm salaried, so that works in my favor. I wouldn't be able to access that money easily, but i do still have checks to write, a little cash on hand, food to last a while, and some stuff to barter if it comes to that.
long story short - i, like many of you fine folks, am at least somewhat self-sufficient. And that makes us a nightmare for big govt and we must be stopped at any cost.

For many the weakest link is one a lot of people over look ... medicine. People with underlying health conditions such as diabetes, heart medications, etc that require daily medications will be SOL even if they’ve squirreled back a little stock pile. With C-19 we saw people hoard just vitamins and supplements so if stuff really gets worse pharmacies will be looted for drugs besides OxyContin by those who understand stuff. Blackmarket medicines or government “camps” will be about the only chance of things like antibiotics or such. If something worse does come along Darwin’s “survival of the fittest” will likely rear its head and the longer the event the deeper it will cut.

I feel for all those who can't make a living, bothers me that Whore in Congress is playing games instead of getting a clean relief package.

I don’t know what’s on the horizon, but since I haven’t seen bread lines or an increase in the number of beggars, or heard about families being pushed put of their homes, I have no reason to think that another relief package is needed.

They have a guy or gal on each corner, with a McDonald's! Sick of these people expecting cash handouts. One dude had a sign 'too honest to steal'. The back of his sign was from a real estate company so I guess he stole it. He also had #BLM on the sign and he is as white as my avatar dog.

if you can predict exactly when and where...
you are doing a lot better than me.

i knew 9/11 "could" happen.
the WTC had already been bombed,
but i did not know exactly when and how.

same with Covid.
pandemics are to be expected.
i did not figure on a "plan-demic", though.

the "next man up" is anything associated with or powered by electricity, in my opinion.
it totally fails or becomes unreliable or dangerous, and effects everything in my modern life.
when? do not know. how? nope. the most recent i have seen is local governments shutting
off power to non-compliant businesses/homes/etc. related to Covid.

Can you cite an example of this? Not challenging you, but I’d like to draft a bit of legislation that eliminates the opportunity for local and city governments to intentionally interupt utility services for any reason.

I remember something about Newsom threatening that in CA, but I don’t recall seeing it actually happen. You turn off someone’s medical equipment and the lawsuit could be epic I’d imagine.

My guess is that they’d use it to turn off water or power to a bar or restaurant that wasn’t following the rules. That would trigger an automatic closing under every health code, and if they stay open in spite of not having utility service there are clear penalties for the business. It’s a way around not really having a way to enforce edicts that don’t have a statutory basis.

Make sense. They did threaten CA homeowners if they had parties or large gatherings. Just don’t think they were really serious.

6:07 p.m.: Judge limits Newsom's powers during pandemic

A judge has preliminarily ordered California Gov. Gavin Newsom to stop issuing directives related to the coronavirus that might interfere with state law.

Sutter County Superior Court Judge Sarah Heckman tentatively ruled Monday that one of the dozens of executive orders Newsom has issued overstepped his authority.

Intermittent fasting and keto and get those stupid fat related illnesses under control now.

I just wanna know: if our electrical grid is barely functioning now and highly succeptible to disruption (from a multitude of causes), why the rush to sell electric cars/trucks/motorcycles ? Do we really want to put our eggs in that basket as it exists now ?

The next crisis after COVID-19 will be hang nails.

And people will clean the stores out of all their hand lotions and nail clippers, and quarantines will go into effect to keep people from being outside in an environment where their hands might dry and chap.

Oh, yeah...and all the toilet paper will disappear off the shelves.

why do you hate the environment and our children's futures?

...there are far worse viruses out there, and God forbid any of those make the leap to human to human transmission.

H5N1 has a 60% death rate, but no reported cases since 2017...that can change in an instant...guess where it originated?

H7N9...40%...and originated where?

They dont just kill a member of the family, they kill the whole family.

Power is going to be the thing that takes us down. Everything going to moving to on-line and electric. With old too much of the old still in use that cannot support what we are putting on it now. When it happens all of the currency and value of what we have will be wiped out. The bad thing is it can be affected by some many different things (hacker, weather, overload, solar flare..).

We are seeing a slight preview in Commiefornia with their rolling blackouts due to electrical distribution problems be it demand exceeds capacity (eco-idiots mothball plants for ”green reasons” mainly), distribution network or such. The NE power grid is right behind Commiefornia and people don’t really remember August of 2003 when most of the NE was shutdown for just one Thursday evening and how crippling it was ...

Commiefornia's problems are because they don't produce enough power in state. They self mandated 60% by renewables by 2030 and 0% by fossil fuels by 2045.

They import about 30% of their power needs from other states (it's OK if THEY use fossil fuels to generate the power CA needs), around 500 rolling blackouts a year, and they hold the record for LEAST reliable electrical power in the country.

They voted themselves into this, they ought to deal with it themselves.

Im not sure why something else is needed. Artificial pandemic seems to be working just fine many months later. #Maskforlife
$50 says we will still be forced by unconstitutional rules at Xmas 2021!! Or 10 rounds of 5.56!

A cyber attack of the magnitude they are discussing will shut down the refineries too, and we already have 98%+ of our transportation in that bucket.
