Thinking about one of these for my 10/22, LGS has some NOS I think for $180ish. I know Nikon discontinued them but I know they made good glass. Is there anything more current I should be looking at instead?

i'd prob go with vortex at this point. they should still have lifetime warranties

I have this one on my 10/22. Like it a lot so far

Ahhh, I forgot about thatā€¦ remember reading about it, then I think a not so hot review and moved onā€¦ the ACSS reticle was interesting IMOā€¦ is your 10/22 a takedown or fixed? The length is nice.

Itā€™s a fixed, with a fluted Tac Sol barrel.

Guess itā€™s still relevant, how far in front of the upper receiver does it stick out? Just trying not to greatly increase the overall length when collapsedā€¦

Also, howā€™s fixed 6x? Thanks for the reminder of this sight.

Current ainā€™t always any better. I have a discontinued Nikon 3-9x40 Prostaff Rimfire EFR (AO for parallax adjustment) on a CZ 455 Squirrel rifle that is hard to beat. At 25 to 50 yards its head shots on the damn pecan raiders. I think I paid $150 or so for it and it has been worth every dime and more.

Itā€™s not too far and you could prob set it back even further. The 6X isnā€™t bad, I can hit 8in plates with it a 200 easy.

Hereā€™s a pic, you can kind of see where it sets on the receiver

I have one of those on a Savage MkII and like it also. I'd like to find something a little smaller in maybe a 4X for a charger I picked up recently.

Many thanks.

A Nikon scope glass is better than most of sub $300 brands.

^this

the Nikon will be superior to any similarly priced Chinese vortex or primary arms optics. Sorry but the low end vortex optics are absolute garbage.

if youā€™re planning to shoot the .22 long range (eg > 150 yards) and want to be able to dial elevation Iā€™d suggest considering an SWFA SS 6x42 or 10x42. I use these for long range 22 and they have spot-on turret tracking, excellent Japanese glass, adjustable parallax for $300. SWFA usually runs a 10% 4th of July sale if can wait a week. at this point Ive accumulated 5 or 6 of the SWFA SS optics and am extremely impressed.

I've considered this for one of my lever actions. Still haven't settled on a rimfire scope for it. Ideally wanted the Leupold FX 4x. Currently just using a mounted peep.

If you get discounts on Vortex, the Diamondback 2-7x35 is about $200. I'd have a hard time paying $180 for the Prostaff when it was just over $100 a few years back and now discontinued. Nikon says they'll honor warrantee but who knows how long that will last
