NJ governor by fiat shuts down NICS system

I don’t understand why politicians think it’s at all justified to remove constitutional rights during times of emergency??? They should all be imprisoned.

They’re not trying to limit free speech (companies are but what else is new), they’re not removing your right to remain silent, not removing your protection against search and seizure, etc etc. for the sake of the “emergency”. What do firearms have to do with a virus???o_O

And the guy in NJ who wanted to buy a Wilson 1911 from me last year wonders why my LGS, nor I, would ship to his FFL.

Why does a governor have the authority to do that ?
It the New Jersey State’s background NICS check they run not the FBI’s and he can flip the switch on the state stuff because the others in power are anti-gun also and will gladly screw lowly citizens.

Quoting C.S. Forester's novel: Hornblower During the Crisis:

Hornblower was reminded of the legendary captain of a ship of war who, when asked for his authority for some particular action, pointed to his guns and said "There!"

I don’t understand. You get paid and then you ship to his ffl, get a signature for delivery and you’re out of it. Why not ship to NJ?

Well, the best and probably biggest FFL in eastern NC won’t ship there, or the rest of the communist states. Having never shipped a gun anywhere myself but back to a factory for repair that spooked me. And the prospective buyer’s FFL was a stereotypical NJ a$$hole when I called to see if he would accept it from me. He required I listen to his profane rant about how awful my FFL was for not shipping to NJ, so I respectfully excused myself from that prospective transaction.

Quoting Robert A. Heinlein from The Moon is a Harsh Mistress:

I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.

Because we have allowed them to believe they have the authority to remove those rights during times of non-emergency.

NJ jerks aside, NJ state law requires guns shipped into NJ come from FFLs. You couldn't have shipped to him directly, by NJ law.

yeah, big “oops” if “ we” didn’t catch that running NICS is bound by low for purchase but “operation” of NICS is not bound by law. Makes it pretty easy to circumvent. Sad.

Thank you. That affirms my decision. The employee at my FFL didn't know why he couldn't ship there, just that he couldn’t, and several other states. Interestingly, the NJ FFL who sounded like the owner said he would be happy to receive it directly from me. Not knowing any more than I do about such laws I just decided against it.
