Non-Traditional Memorial Day Food

I was a little hungry and it was too early to fire up the grill for today's burgers/dogs. So, I made an old favorite that I hadn't had in a while, a baloney burger. It was great, but, the best ones I ever had came from South Boston Speedway. Those Southside Virginia people made a killer baloney burger.

The grill in the Exxon station next to my office makes fried bologna for breakfast. Cut about a half inch thick. Try it with a fried egg and cheese on toast and the rest of your day will not get any better

We had meatloaf on the grill, cheesy mashed cauliflower with bacon in it.

Took some bacon that @HK_fanboy precooked for our trip and made a bacon, pepper, and cheese quiche.



Dutch oven in the fire pit... friggin hot...

We steamed 10 pounds of crab legs and 15 pounds of shrimp, homemade coleslaw, baked potatoes on the grill and lots of alcohol! I didn't get pictures because if I'd have slowed down to do it, they'd have eat everything! It looked like wolves eating!!!! Had a chocolate brownie cheesecake with chocolate drizzle on top for dessert! Way better than burgers and dogs!!!!!

'Splain me that corn and sausage looking thing. That looks like it has vast potential. My kids love corn on the cob and I love sauasge.

Yeah... Boys were great and self contained. It was the adults that could have taken a little initiative and cleaned up after themselves.

Ours was almost a didn't happen event, with some weekend medical issues.

But things settled down and I did up some teriyaki chicken kabobs, baked beans, and some small baked taters brushed with olive oil and sprinkled with salt.

Wanted to do more, but it turned out great and hit the spot for the family.
