I recently picked up my first rifle, added a Vortex Strikefire 2 red dot, and got it zerored. I added a budget 3x magnifier, the eye relief is pretty small and I find myself having to either partially collapse my stock, or move up to be able to see the magnification. I have no issues with accuracy or seeing the dot once I get close enough, but just wanted people's opinion on this, is it normal, is there something I can do to be able to see the magnification better? Is this just a case of, "Practice, practice, practice"?

Generally the cheaper the magnifier the smaller the sweet spot for eye relief is going to be. So yeah normal.

20+ years in tech support had taught me to always ask the obvious question….are you able to remount the magnifier and dot further back on the rail?

Got a pic of your setup?

It's on the last slot of the rail lol, I think it might just be a cheap magnifier but when I have time I will respond back with a pic of the setup.

Yeah, with budget and even more premium magnifiers, eye relief is often a struggle.

in my experience shooting a Vortex Micro and a Trijicon magnifier it gets really tight in a standing possition, however eye relief can be much better once you actually build a shooting position for your more precise shot (prone/pressed into a barricade/etc). To me this kinda fixes the whole issue since it's very rare to be taking that magnified shot in your typical squared off stance.
