Tried multiple times to post email I got from GRNC today regarding secret board meeting the NRA held yesterday in Charlotte. Cant post it for some reason. Maybe someone else can. More closed door shenanigans by WLP and the boys. Keep thinking this problem will self correct when they run out of money but so far that has not happened.

I dunno about secrets. They spammed the crap out of me trying to get me to attend. Not very secret.

I got an invite in the mail for it. Or maybe the board meeting was separate? I thought that’s what the mailer was for…but it got tossed.

I saw the GRNC email, but it doesn’t make much sense to me. I received a letter from the NRA meeting, and a friend registered for tickets though I don’t think he ended up going.

I’m no fan of the NRA these days but I don’t think this headline is accurate.

I got the invite to the Charlotte meeting and threw it in the trash.

I got no notice of the "Meeting" but as Paul said, some did. Actually, I think my membership expired. I had let it expire some years ago but had to re-up to join a range but I think I let it expire again but that never stopped them before for sending me something in the mail at least once a month begging for money. I would have thought Paul or whoever would have posted his email here.

Life member, mailed in my ballot months ago.

I’m letting my membership lapse to a gun club I thought I was moving two hours closer to, that requires an active NRA membership.

Which means my NRA membership will also lapse.

I got one also. It also went into the trash! I wouldn’t be a member if it wasn’t for my range requirement!

last time i went to renew my certs, i just paid the extra fee non-members pay.
cheaper than getting a membership i don't even want.

I had to be a member to go to gunsmith school in Colorado at that time I was blissfully ignorant to the leadership.... then in like 2017 when I moved back here in nc they started talking about red flag laws and how Crenshaw and the nra supported then I called tried to cancel my membership but I had to write a resignation letter??! So I just stopped all payments through my bank that did the trick

apples oranges

I'm not an NRA member, but I've got a question.

Why does a supposed gun rights organization have a big meeting in a Socialist held city? I call Charlotte the San Francisco of NC.

I'm old enough to remember when it wasn't that bad of a place(30 years ago)till the Socialist took it over.

The NRA is a fundraising outfit first and foremost.

"gun rights" is the drum they beat to secure fundraising.

Wayne and his buddies don't care about freedom, democracy, capitalism, or socialism. Just whatever lines his pockets.

I'm a member, and I'm only one because my range requires it. I don't care about the NRA, but I love my range, so I begrudgingly send them a check every year.

I suppose they looked for a town with sufficient hotel capacity. But their memory of the botched GOP convention in CLT should have told them to put on the brakes.

Well surprise surprise, ole Wayne got re-elected as Executive VP again. I'm sure his intern is happy knowing that NRA members will be footing her rent again for another summer.

What’s Asheville then? Portland?

Still dont understand why if this subforum is for GRNC that whoever mods this hasnt posted Paul's latest alert. I tried several times and got error messages. Here is a link to TTAG's page on the proceedings. Members meeting was attend by less than 500. BOD is closed door where the BOD members present voted almost unamously to re -"elect" WLP as CEO.

This is possible? My RSO is coming due in February.

Not really a financial benefit to not renewing... plus you lose out on that sweet hat and pocket knife that never shows up.
You can also call into the membership renewal line and request an associate membership or something like that. Some of the non-mailed-magazine memberships are only like $10 a year. not really a big savings there either.

My wife and I just moved from NH where we had “Live Free or Die” on our license plates and proudly flew the Gladstone flag below the American flag every day.

We did not renew NRA after being members for 10 years because we want to support/belong to organizations that are politically wise but will not back down.

Piedmont Handgunners range in Linwood NC does not require NRA membership. There is a new member fee and $125 annually. They do a great job of maintaining the range With the membership funds. All capital expenses and O&M funds are voted on by members.

You can be a Life member, even a step above that, whatever they call it, and they still send you emails and junk mail warning you that your magazine subscription is getting ready to expire, or more ugly, asking for money. I gave them a few hundred bucks over 30 years ago, so I could get a “gun” magazine, join a club, shoot across the course with the club’s M14, and buy my first Garand for $125.
I haven’t shot at Camp Perry in over 15 years now, but the NRA then and now probably ain’t the same organization.
I keep telling myself that, but corruption is easy to ignore when you are working, shooting every day off and reloading in the spare time. I figure that my vote gets put in the same place most of Trump’s Georgia votes were sent.
They have this thing that rips and shreds tree limbs now😪😪😪

I think that is a lame reason personally. Not dissing you personally, pretty much everyone that is a member of the NRA because they want to shoot at a range that requires it. It's like watching NFL football and not taking a knee. You should be taking a knee if you watch NFL football.

If everyone stopped joining ranges that required an NRA membership for insurance, maybe the rangers would team up with GOA to get something going.

I too rejoined NRA so I could join a gun club, which I am now leaving three years later since I won’t be moving there. I did it holding my nose, rejoining the NRA that is. It’s not like I sent my money to Al Quaeda. I’m also a lifetime member of GOA.
