I was all loaded up to try again this morning when my wife says โ€œ that target says Aug/Sept on it and itโ€™s October todayโ€. dang I hate when she kills my mojo but she did save us some ink from the printer. Still gonna go practice and use up the 3 targets I have left.

if it is ok with everyone, I would like to change plans again and go back to the scarecrow target. Nbkky71 is a master with this target stuff and the computer and has made it all work! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Sorry for all the confusion. Here is a picture of our target before Nbkky71 worked his magic and made it work! Hope everyone enjoys this one. ๐Ÿ™‚ How about 10 points for crows, 10,9,8 for pumpkins?? 15 shots total, 1shot for each bullseye.

Looks cool. Is the 10 points for Crows just getting it in the main ring, not worrying about the bullseye?

Has anyone tried this target yet? It looks great, I have just been so busy I haven't had a chance to shoot. Hopefully I will get a chance soon! ๐Ÿ˜€

I just started going to the Wake Firearms Education and Training Center. It is free and the only place I can really shoot rifles. Not that many spots open but it might be fun to try to reserve a few lanes and have some meetups/shooting sessions.

If anyone wants to share a lane and shoot some of these with me, let me know.

I totally suck so you should be able to feel pretty good about yourself.

Since I completely missed the last event, I'll be the first to throw in my submission for Oct/Nov.

Marlin 917V
Mueller 8.6-25X44 optic
Hornady VMAX 17gr ammo
Front rest & rear bag

SCORE = 125

I couldn't recall what the scoring guidelines were for the small bullseye, so I used 10-9-8 point scoring rings for those.

I shot this yesterday when it was dark & overcast, so it was *very* hard to see the circles around the crows. I had to use the white dot as an aiming point but wasn't sure how much wiggle room I had. Beware for those attempting this target with lower powered optics! This one was the pick of the litter (3 attempts)

Definitely a challenging target with the color scheme blending everything in. It was also pretty easy to miss the crows and dropping 10 points a pop can easily kill your score. Nailing the crows are the key (just under .5" wide) to posting a good score.

I printed off a couple targets, but it just seemed a bit windy yesterday. Maybe this coming weekend will work.

It was such a nice day today, I went out to the range to try this target. I got there and it was packed, I guess everyone thought it was a nice day. I turned around and came home. Maybe I will try it after work one day this week. Hope everyone had a great weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚

I went out late this afternoon and shot 2 targets with Norma Tac-22. This ammo really surprised me! It shot much better then I expected, I chronoed a few rounds and it was low 1000 fps. (1006, 1002, 990,). I scored a 94 and a 122, I was shooting my CZ 455 with Athlon Helos BTR, Bipod on front, bag in rear.20211031_190602.jpg20211031_190501.jpg20210627_183547.jpg

Made it out this morning and shot 2 targets. It was pretty breezy and it showed on my second attempt. Pushed my shots a little right ๐Ÿ˜ก

First target was 121 & my second attempt was a 83 ๐Ÿ˜ซ

My new CZ 457 Pro Varmint with YoDave trigger & striker springs.

Good shooting and GREAT looking range!

I tried one of these targets today as I was sighting in my new CZ457 / scope for the first time, but was pretty dark (couldn't get illumination in scope to work and shooting against black targets was difficult to line up with my failing eyesight).

Found I was too distracted troubleshooting initial setup with the first outing of my gun to track which of the targets I'd already shot at, lol. I shot at two of the targets and on neither one completed a shot on all the targets or had two shots on one, lol... failing memory to go with the eyesight I guess. I probably need to have a spare target & pen on my bench and check them off when I've fired on them. Or guess I could pull out my spotting scope - didn't do that this time.

Need to get the illumination fixed, get scope sighting fine tuned and give it another go before it gets too cold out.

Took the brand new cz 457 at one out for the first time today to put it through the paces. Ran 100 rds cci sv first to get the feel of the gun. Cci was around .7" average at 50. Shot 5 five shot groups with wolf match extra, eley match, and eley tenex. It liked the eley tenex best and really hated the wolf match extra. Tenex averaged .32" with the best being .21 inches. I really couldn't get comfortable behind the gun and forgot my rear squeeze bag, so was resting on my fist. The at one stock feels small and awkward to me, and I ordered a chassis to replace it when I got home. Only had time for one of the monthly targets, but I'll shoot it again later in the week. Here's the details:
Cz 457 at one
Athlon 6-24 x50
Harris bipod
Eley tenex

Score 146
Had to get out my overlay for the lowest crow on the right hand side, but it made it.

Youโ€™re saying this one is a hit after checking it? Just making sure thatโ€™s the one youโ€™re talking about.

Yeah, I put a uspsa overlay on it and lined the right hand side of the grease ring up with the right hand side of the overlay, and the left hand side of the overlay was touching the edge of the scoring ring. Not sure how proper that is as I don't have a 22 caliber push in style guage. If that's not right, it drops the score to 136, which is better than it felt while I was shooting it.

It is good to see some people shooting this target! It is a fun target, very busy with the colors. Makes it challenging. ๐Ÿ™‚

I gave it a go but am not pleased with the results. Still enjoyed the challenge. 81 by my count.

Ruger 10/22 with some Volquartsen parts

It's always great to see the pictures, that's what makes our challenge fun. Good or bad we enjoy them all! Have fun and enjoy your shooting experience! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Unfortunately when I got to range they had the 50 yard shut down for maintenance. Played around with a few targets at 25 yards and think those crows are gonna be mighty hard to see at 50. Might need to highlight the heads.

Last few months have been too busy to shoot, and when there have been good days, Iโ€™ve just been too busy.

Brought my usual pellet rifle (not for the competition, but just for fun, as usual), as it is just so much cheaper to shoot (at least ammo is). After adding a new power wheel and dialing her in to check the new settings, I had just enough pellets with me to shoot one target. I put 4 out there in the r beginning, but ran out of pellets with all the testing I was doing, and didnโ€™t feel like switching back over to the other pellets as it was getting late.

Scored a 134. Missed that one dang crow! Forgot to take pics of my setup, but same rifle as usual, so I used pics from last time.

FX Crown MKII .22 shooting JSB 25.4gr pellets.

Thanks to everyone who competed, I hope you plan to shoot with us in the next Challenge! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
