Off duty Raleigh PD officer shot and killed in east Raleigh active shooter

So you've never heard of M.A.D.D., S.A.D.D, Teens Against Drunk Driving? How about sobriety checkpoints, ignition locks and folks losing their licenses for DUI convictions? Anti-drunk driving initiatives have been around for years-- where have you been?
Thank you for making my point for me. Not one of those you mentioned has demanded that all alcohol be banned. Not one of them has demanded for mandatory background checks when purchasing alcohol. Not one of them has demanded that federal forms be filled out at time of purchase of alcohol. Not one of them has demanded NICS check at time of purchase.

Sobriety check points, pretty much equal to metal detectors at events /malls/ schools/anywhere, except that the check points have made it all the way up to Supreme Court and found to be constitutional as long as certain guidelines are met.

Would ignition locks even be needed if there were stiffer penalties for DUI?

I know of many people that have had multiple DUIs yet still have drivers license. I'm sure you know more people with multiple DUIs than you do with multiple convictions on gun related charges.

And Remember, driving is a PRIVILEGE, the RKBA is a RIGHT.

Aw, just a little longer? I wanted some answers!
You’ll get the same answers when he comes back under a different name so I can ban him again

Absolutely horrible. I'm not sure how I would handle the loss of one child, let alone that loss at the hands of another, who I would certainly lose to the justice system as well. I feel for all the victims' families, and this family in particular. The grief combined with the guilt. How the heck do you go on??? :(
C'mon man! You know that kid didn't kill his brother. It was the evil gun that did it

As to the motive questions, KC Odea has made some vague comments about this. Reckon he has inside knowledge of what happened but he made the comment that the details or what led up to the event would likely be opening many people’s eyes or something to that effect. So who knows.

Y'all got more patience than I do that's absolute.
I'd ban every one of these Joes, old nascars, krabbas, triple 07s..every one of them as soon as they open their damn mouth.
This isn't about me shutting down dissent. That's what they want to do. They own 99% of the internet and want to infest the last 1% with their commie locust swarm of misery. Eff off. Go start your own miserable gun hating gun loving forum and by the way, a pox upon your entire existence and that includes your ass-gerbil too.

Speculation here was correct. It was a shotgun that cause the damage, apparently.

They didn't get their assault weapon, but they're pimping the number 3. Gotta focus on the agenda, so at least they can push for purchase limits.

Today's N&O front page. This officer on the left is obviously highly trained, because he doesn't have to worry about muzzle control.

What are you talking about? No way that muzzle is going to escape with that grip. He's totally on it..... it's the inverted reverse C grip. The 3 gun guns are all over that now.

The real question is, what is the man/woman/whatever on the right drawing for? Is there a threat behind the camera? Is the camera the threat? Is that whole image just a photoshop job imposting random images onto a random background?

What in the name of humanity is that thing in the blue shirt???? And how does Selective Enforcement work? I mean by definition?

He’s already been told about the error of using state level stats but he completely ignored it.

He isn’t here to try to have a discussion. Nor is he here to actually listen to arguments and respond logically to them point by point.

Talking to this guy is like trying to pick up a turd by the clean end.

He’s a troll that brings NOTHING to the forum but derision. He owns a few handguns and a shotgun, so he believes that gives him the right to go on a gun forum and treat everyone badly.

Well he is always the smartest guy in the room. 🤨

Not saying anymore but wait for the other shoe to drop. Unreal.

I keep hearing similar. Not sure what to think of all the ominous comments i've heard. Only thing I can think of is nothing in this situation fits their narratives, if it did there would be information overload.

It’s very damn real. My step son witnessed it and he wouldn’t lie. One of the reasons he got out.
I guess that your mileage will vary. I have never worked in SC so your Officers may be different. I will say however that these kinds of statements are the reason that neither I nor most of the other experienced shooters/cops that I know participate in the echo chamber of these type of forums. It is always "my friend/step son/cousin/buddy/dad who retied 25 years ago/ college room mates bisexual brother that worked for the Police and said it so it must be the word of god". In the 25 years and three agencies that I have worked for and the countless other agencies that I have shot/worked with in the course of my duties I have not seen this to be true. I've known exactly 3 cops in all of this time that I would say that this is true about. The problem is that on forums it becomes a dick shaking contest with Joe Blow saying "hell them cops don't shoot at all" and 12 others saying "yup". It's a blind belief in some fantasy that has been perpetuating itself for the past 20 years on these forums.

Then again, this isn't about the Police or their shooting skills. This is about some sick little shit that broke the law and killed a bunch of people including someone that was an off duty Police Officer on his way to work.

They selectively decide what type of raid they can do, static or dynamic. If they want to do no knock etc etc lol

All kidding aside I don’t know when the new catch phrase selective enforcement team came about but I know locally that’s what they are calling it. So I asked a question about it from a team member on it. He said it’s not s full time team so they selectively use it hence why it’s called that.

Most teams in NC are part time. Just don't have the volume of some of the bigger cities.

Around 2000, maybe 2001, I was at a training with their team. They did not have tacmed or a team medic, so a doc I know invited me to share some tacmed perspective so they could figure out the model they wanted to go with. Their team doc was a neurosurgeon at Wake Med, and he showed me his 'kit.' He had damned near a full OR's worth of stuff, including a drill for a ventriculostomy. He was super cool and amenable to reason, by the end of the evening I was able to give him some kit advice and shopping list. The guys on the team all seemed pretty cool. That was my only experience with that team.

The fiancé of one of Raleigh’s mass shooting victims told WRAL News that he feels used after participation in Sunday’s city-sponsored Raleigh Healing Together event.

“It wasn’t supposed to be majority gun control and gun violence.”
