Oil change supplies - just one of my many flaws

I used to just tear the box lid off and throw it in my glove box
google docs works good for a spreadsheet you can hit from a smart phone too

Those aren't made by the same company that makes the crap Fram.

Iirc they are made by Purolator

Jenny has a cousin that works on a filter line for Purolator in FayetteNAM. Her stories would leave you believing their filters are questionable at best. Their QC is laughable.

Simplest way? Look it up right now and type it up in the notes function on your phone.

F250
Oil: 15 qts T6 Rotella
Oil Filter:
Fuel Filter

Last changed: 210,500

Then just update the mileage when you change it.

I also put the wiper blade number and tire size in that note for each vehicle as well.

Edit. It would have the air filter number too but my truck runs a K&N filter.
This is what I do!

Zero quarts of oil here

Up north I used Hastings oil filters, used a cotton media not paper. Been using Wix since 1990 with CarQuest labels. Buy them by the dozen for the two fords and six at a time for the three other cars. Write date and mileage on the filters. Masking tape on door jamb for the others that use cartridges or under the engine.

I use a combination of a little sticker in the upper drivers side of the windshield, and a light on the dash that says "maintenance needed", and take it to the place that has free coffee in the lounge.

BUT!...I have the filter/viscosity/capacity memorized for my Harley...nobody touches my Harley but me. :)

Nope, just 40 tons of coal. ;)
Oh I drive it for the tech and the fun factor, not because itā€™s green.

I make up for it by using two sources of fuel in my other ride with gas and methanol.

Before I got a company vehicle, I was changing my oil about every 6-8 weeks, so it was pretty easy to remember the filter part number. I've used the same oil (Castrol) for many years, and every truck I've had up until the Dodge Ram I just bought took 6 quarts. My new one takes 7. For many years, I used the K&N air filter, and just had to clean it, but I gave up about 250k miles with my last truck. I saw no benefit in power or gas mileage, so I figure its worth $12 not to have to clean and reoil. The chemicals probably cost me half of the cost of a new filter every time I cleaned it. Ironically, I just bought a Oil Filter today for my Ram Hemi and it takes the same filter as the 4.8 Liter that was in my Silverado. I guess remembering the filter number will be pretty easy for this truck too. BTW, I don't change my own oil, I buy the oil and filter and pay the Quick Lube $20 to do the work. Doesn't save me any money over using their Oil and Filter, but I know what is going in my engine. I don't trust oil that comes out of a hose in the ceiling and I know the filters they use are the cheapest on the market. And on top of that its worth $20 to not have to find a place to dump it.
