Old Fort 3 Gun, 4/24 Inaugural Match *After Action Reports*

Ok, so I worked out some pending travel dates, and signed up!!

Or tried to, anyway. I went though Practiscore, registered, did not see an option to pick a squad or send the up-front money. I imagine a sash wearer of some variety will come along shortly and point me in the right direction...?

Lookin forward to it. :)

I'll get you approved here in a minute.

Glad to have you!

For everyone that has registered, ill be sending a payment link via email soon.

VODTactical needed to get their on-line payments setup.

sounds as much like "Play to your strength" as anything.
Do most matches have players choice stages? Really like the fact that all three guns must be used, but not exactly on what.

This sounds awesome, really wish I could have made that starter class a few weeks ago.

The idea is to get you thinking, planning and (if you're like me) forgetting what the hell you planned once the buzzer goes.

Most matches are a bit more structured/scripted. We're going for a 'fun' approach with lots of movement and options.

I'd be happy to host you out to VOD for an afternoon between now and then to give you a quick 101. Or, just be like 95% of first shooters - show up and figure it out! We plan on being VERY welcoming to new shooters. All we require is a secure strong-side belt mounted holster. Everything else can be jury rigged as you go.

Was there some discussion about camping before the match or am I making that up?

I’ll be there Friday evening with the camper set up. @jjwestbrook may be over nighting as well.

come on out! Campfire, adult beverages and good company!

no RV hookups, but plenty of room to park one, pitch a tent or hang a hammock.

Get with @VOD Tactical for camp fee.

I’ll probably do that if the weather looks decent. It would save me a 2 hour drive morning of.

I'd like to thank the ownership group here for stepping up in a MAJOR way to officially sponsor Old Fort 3 Gun! I can't thank them enough for helping us this off the ground!

So far we have a TERRIFIC mix of veteran 3-gunners (some of the best in the Southeast!) and folks that might need some help with which end the bullets go in. Our goal from that first beer around a campfire was FUN first, FAST second and Competition a distant 3rd. I think we're going to hit those goals!

We only have a few spots left, so if you've been on the fence about joining us, now's the time!

And....another teaser!

FYI..."Orange steel with pistol" is gonna be ~80 yards out. Don't worry, it's big.

Stretching to 450?

Can anyone show up, pay and compete?
Register ahead of time at the Practiscore link in the first post.

There are still spots available right now, but we do expect to sell out.

How many normally shoot this match?
I shoot my local 3 gun match’s the 2nd and 4th Saturday’s.
Is this match similar to Rowan and PHA?

This is the inaugural match for the venue. We have capped at 50 hooters and are close to that now.

3 Bay stages plus 2 natural terrain. Fast and fun is our goal. Match directors are experienced 3-gunners. While I haven't shot Rowan, I've shot a bunch of Clinton, Greenville and Walnut Grove. I'm sure you'd be right at home.

By "big" are we talking Tim size or a 59 Buick?

Where can I get rules and regulations for the match?
It’s an outlaw match. Show up, be safe, shoot and have fun.

Take a few minutes to read the sample stage briefs posted up thread. They’ll give you an idea of what to expect.

Loosely kinda sorta gonna follow 3 gun nation rules.

But I’ll be honest, if you’re a range lawyer, this isn’t the match for you. FUN first, FAST second, Competition a distant 3rd. We’re in it for the giggles and comaradery.

In case it’s not clear, I’m the match director. Feel free to PM questions, or continue to post here.

Nope, another “teaser” stage brief was posted.
I was hoping, if it works out, I may just come and observe. do I need to sign up to find out?

I presume I’m just not getting it.

I also think what your doing is AWESOME! Something close. Heck yeah! I want to be a part, but time is precious currently. So even if I can’t participate I’m still hoping to attend.

Spectators are welcome! We’ll introduce to the joy and wonderment of “STAGE IS CLEAR!! RESET!!”

No need to sign up to spectate.
