Getting a S&W 3953 inspired me to break out one of my other mid-size single stacks.

They are very similar in their sizes. The smith is a few oz. lighter, but it's very hard for me to tell the difference between 28 and 25.5 oz.

They both come in right under an inch in width. The HK is a tad thicker in the grip.

Took them both to the range today.

Interestingly, I seemed to slow fire the DAO smith more accurately but the HK P7M8 was much quicker and more accurate on follow up shots.

I still carry a modern pistol (VP9) most days, but I will nostalgia carry occasionally for fun.

I love the P7. My uncle has one. I can't see myself ever buying one, but I think they're super cool.

It's pretty cool that HK was able to put a 4.13" barrel (fixed) into a package that is the same size as most compact 3.3-3.5" barrel guns.

Way ahead of its time...striker fired, great grip angle, low bore axis, polygonal rifling, good sights...in 1979! Easy to field strip. PITA for full take-down...

My primary "gripe" would be that the trigger reset is loooooooong. It has to go back all the way out to reset.

Very cool. I've never seen the hk in real life. I heard they are great guns.

Any time someone wants to shoot one, hit me up!

You'll have to come to Raleigh (I usually shoot at personal defense and handgun safety center) or provide somewhere reasonably close by to shoot!

I might take you up on that. A guy on another forum praised them but he lived in Florida.
