I’ve carried a Stylus Pro in my pocket for the 9 months or so and really like it. Also have an AAA Microstream on a lanyard that I use every once in awhile. It has the double clip which definitely comes in handy.

Recently added my first Olight to the carry rotation, and it also has a double clip. Guess there’s also something about a red light I like. :D

How is the Olight? Was just looking at that model. I was leaning towards one of the above Streamlights until I came across it.

There’s no comparison at all as far as functions/features. The Olight is way better. I’ve bought a half-dozen different lights from them in the last two months. Some for me, and some for Christmas gifts.

If I was going to buy another one for EDC, I’d go with the bigger Baton Pro instead of the Mini Baton. The Mini is just a little awkward to handle due to short length. The Pro is what I bought my dad. They have a wide range of modes from a 0.5 lumen moonlight (that last 20 days) to a Turbo that will melt your face.

If you’re going to place an order, add at least one I1R light to your cart. Or if you prefer AAA over rechargeable, the slightly bigger I3E. Either one fits on a key ring.

I also have a I3T that’s real similar to the Streamlight Microstream.

@Jeppo is who introduced me to Olight and he has quite a few as well.

I moved these out of the Streamlight thread to keep it on topic. We’ll continue to discuss the Olight options here.

Just thinking about the Microstream and Stylus Pro I have, I do like the tail switch better than the side switch on the Olight Mini Baton. The Streamlights are also a basic off/on function, while you have to actually read the manual on the Olight. Clicks, double clicks, triple clicks, hold for 1 second, etc...all to access different modes.

I have a Olight S1R for a few years. It survives at least three washer and dryer cycles. The battery got trashed with the heat and no longer takes a charge. A new battery and the light is still kicking.

Thanks for the run down, and thanks for moving. I wasn't trying to hijack the thread, but it makes sense to start a new one. Helps my decision quite a bit as I've never had a tough EDC light. It's always been some cheap disposable option.

That was the sales pitch / explanation I told my dad when I gave him the Baton Pro. We’ve always had cheap lights around. Streamlights are nice, but the Microstream and Stylus definitely don’t fall into the “expensive” category by any means. And yes, you can spend hundreds of dollars on a light as well. I got the Baton Pro (desert tan) for 40% off the ~$100 price, and it came bundled with a small UV light.

Amazon also carries them at about the same prices, so check there as well if Olight doesn’t have a current sale running. If you’re not in a rush, sign up for their emails and wait it out.

I have carried an Olight daily for 4 or more years until i lost it, then replaced it. Since then i accumulated several for various bags, vehicles etc. Only drawback ive found is that they get pretty warm after a few minutes of use.

I have an Olight PLmini on my G19, trust it 100%.
Their customer service is top notch. Being able to charge the battery without taking the batteries out or the light off of the pistol is a very good option.

I’m not tough on flashlights, I just lose ‘em. I’m really happy with Olight products and find their flash sales to be irresistible.

If you are wanting a good EDC AAA light, I can thoroughly recommend Maratac, available at CountyComm. I've been carrying one everyday for 5 years, and it has been a champ. Good battery life, bright, holds up well, etc. I have a brass version for it's microbial properties and used it for servicing instruments, walking the woods at night, peering into sewer grates and have yet to be disappointed.

Mike and CountyComm are damn fine folks too.

Everyone was very impressed at the amount of light that comes from a light that small.
But only “everyone” fortunate enough to be on your Christmas gift list. :(

For weapon mounted light I only use streamlight. My TLR-1 has about 5k rounds of 9mm shot above it and has zero issues. The amount of compatible holsters is comparable to the SureFire.

since models like the pl-2 are already within 20-50$ of a stream light, it’s just a no brainer for me.

"How is the Olight?"

very good, unless you don't like stark, white light.
white washes out some colors, so some people
go for the more "realistic" (yellowish?) tints
from other brands.

I use Olights most days. I have an S1a that's magnetically attached to my bedside reading lamp for the trips to the bathroom in the night. I use an H2r headlamp around the yard almost nightly. I have a bunch. Most have been very reliable with a few older models being a bit finicky with switches.

I carried the S1 mini for a couple of years in the bottom of my pocket everyday. It looks like junk but still works fine.

I like all sizes of Olight....

Have carried the S1 Baton around for a couple of years. It's my little light I drop in my pocket and no one gives a second thought going through TSA or other places.

The wife asked me for a brighter flashlight to be able to see the backyard and check on noises outside.... hence the X7R...now refered to as the " portable sun".

Between Olight and Fenix I rarely buy or look at any else.

I love my Olight lights. I carry a S30 baton III a lot almost religiously. I have been carrying a micro stream some lately but the Olight is much brighter. I just wish it had a tail cap switch on it.
