I’m relatively unfamiliar with what a good and durable LPVO is, I’m seeing good things about the Sig Tango-MSR and the Votex Strike Eagle, but are they durable? I want something that follows the K.I.S.S. thought process and is durable enough to with reasonable care be able to handle the elements and prolonged/extraneous use, I want one that’s 1x to 8x, but a 1x to 6x would work as well if it has good build quality, just want to be able to semi reliably reach 400-500 yards, do you guys have any recommendations?

Budget? IMO, you start getting into "OK" reliability in the $600-$1000 range, "pretty darn good" in the $1200+ range, and "duty grade" in the $1600+ range.

Vortex has a great warranty, but the Strike Eagles seem to have a relatively high failure rate.

I have been very impressed with the Gen 2 Viper 1-6. No problem out to 700 with that setup.

The prices on these seem to be coming down below $500 lately.

The Gen 2 is far superior to the Gen 1. I have both.

This is on a 3 gun rifle that gets thrown around. I don’t abuse it, but I don’t baby it.

I’ve got a Steiner 1-4 that’s been good. But I haven’t really beaten up on it. They seem to be well respected though.

Only issue with the P4Xi is the price. Back when you could get one with an ADM mount for $499, it was the ticket. MIL/LEO pricing on the T6Xi 1-6 is great but it’s also heavy. Otherwise it’s very pricy and for the same money you can get an NX8 1-8

The Eotech Vudu 1-6x FFP is on sale at EuroOptic for $799 and no question is a great optic. Normal price is $1330, so it’s a heck of a sale. I’d pull the trigger on this now if I was in the market for an LPVO

Viper Gen 2 1-6 is great but heavy IMO

I am incredibly impressed with the Primary Arms PLXc 1-8x. So much so that I traded away the Night Force NX8.

The one I linked above is just one of the reticles they offer. And, if you're patient you can catch one of their 12% off sales they tend to run every other month or so.

You can still get a great deal on the P4Xi 1-4, but only with the G1 reticle. I went that route on my SBR, but I omitted it since it was only a 1-4.

Do you have a link to the Vudu? I don't see any models on sale for under $999 including the demos and SFP models.

Please talk me into one of these. I am struggling with a scope for a Ruger SFAR. I was settled on a NF NX8, then was positively going with a Leupold Mark 5 and now I’ve been sold on the PA PLXc. I like the PA’s reticle better than NF or Leupold, I like the option of capped or uncapped elevation turret, and the weight of it has me sold alone. I have like a $500 credit at Cabelas, so I could get the NX8 or Mark 5 for right at $1500.

My problem is buying a $1500 scope from a company that makes their living selling $600 scopes. Also, I’m not sure an SFAR is worthy of a $2K scope. I’m leaning hard towards the PA, help me make up my damn mind.

Edit: it would help if there was a store front that had one to see and hold.

It truly is an awesome piece of gear. Takes a beating, clear glass, good reticle. TERRIFIC eyebox compared to the NF.

If you haven’t made up your mind, have a look at US Optics TS line of LPVO. They have great glass and and are about half price of the others. I run the 1x8 FFP with JNG reticle. For the money it’s hard to beat. If you decide that you want one give me a pm. I can give you a discount code that will save you about 25% off price.
