Opinions Wanted: S&W 686 Canted Barrel

Honestly, if it still shoots left I might just file the right side of the ramp a little.

Why do that? Why let them get away with it? They made a sub-par gun, they refused to fix it. Your solution would take one more “unadulterated” gun off the secondary market, meaning (1) S&W is that little bit more likely to sell another new sub-par gun and (2) you’ll have a gun that’s still “wrong” but also now filed on.

Make them make it right.

I'll shoot it before I make up my mind, but it's just disheartening to play this game.

I've gone through the back and forth before with another gun long ago and in the end I just ended up hating the damn thing for the effort I had to put into to getting it fixed.

So far with this one, I've had two interactions.

1.
Me: Hey my gun has a canted barrel and shoots way left.
Them: You probably just suck.

2.
Me: Hey my gun has a canted barrel and shoots way left.
Them: We adjusted barrel alignment.
Gun: Still canted.

🤷‍♂️

So how much time and ammo do I waste before it's either right or I get fed up and sell it at a loss?

Edit- I forgot interaction #3. The rubber stocks disintegrated in about a year and I called in about it. "Warranty does not cover stocks, sorry."

Start a social media campaign to get them to fix it. Start with a Facebook group named S&W QC SUX and start letting other people post pics of their screwed up new guns from S&W. Post pics on any of their social media platforms. Become a public nuisance for them.

That type of campaign has worked for othe products in the past, it may work for you and all the others out there that are getting screwed.

Grab a glass of cheap Chardonnay and put on your best Karen wig and call customer service.

Tell them you are disappointed and you have been a good customer for a longtime and you have always bought S&W because they make a quality product and stand behind it.

Ask for a replacement. Don’t be a jerk but ask firmly and with conviction. Tell them that you will never get your money or value out of this gun because if you sell it you will have to disclose the issues.

Push hard and of they won’t do it ask for the next level of customer service and rinse and repeat.

New Henry and Ruger rifles are exceptions... I will buy a Ruger Marlin one day!

Oh, and Italian reproductions... they seem to care a lot about quality.
