I've been ordering ammo online for sometime. I don't remember having to do an age verification document...EVER, until today...and I'm not very comfortable doing it. Just curious if others have had to do this?

I ordered for the first time from a company called Bang It ammo...www.bangitammo.com. I was ordering some .458 Socom soft tip 350g to try out. I think they are in South Carolina.

Just curious if anyone else has ordered from them. Like I said I've never been requested to send age verification documentation to ANY ammo company in the past and I'm not comfortable with someone having my credit card AND my ID.

Aimsurplus.com use to require it... until they had a security breech and every ID they had onfile was compromised and they ended providing 2 years of credit monitoring for everyone affected. I'm not sure if they still do it since I don't shop there much anymore. I use sgammo.com, their prices are competitive, shipping is reasonable and they get it out pretty quick. You just have to check a box promising you are over 18.

I don't recall doing anything other than put in my DOB and swear that I am really that old.

At least they are very clear about it and do offer a choice, even though it is one that costs a few bucks for adult signature required delivery.

I had to do an ID thing to order cigars online several years ago.

Or, order from Outdoor Limited. Online prices, but located in High Point. Can even do pick up to save shipping.

In case quantities, cheapy 9mm costs maybe $3-5 more per order than the same thing from sgammo, but OL is local so I've been buying it from them. OL also has a huge in stock selection of 22 so it's easy to throw a few boxes in with each case of 9mm and not really drive up shipping.

But to the OPs question, I haven't been asked for age verification from any of the random places I've bought ammo from. They usually just say "must be 21" or something and have a check box you hit to say you are.

Buy local. Cost more........ yes. Supports local business, yes

No one local carries .458 Socom ammo and few carry much 10mm pistol ammo.

Otherwise I purchase all my other ammo locally.

As most of you know, WalMart now requires the customer's birthdate be entered into the terminal for an in-store ammo purchase.

Yeah they changed the programing from just asking if the customer is over 18 or 21 for rifle and pistol calibers respectively it asks for the birthday. Except for .22LR, .22 mag, and possibly (haven't seen a box in stock in nearly 8 years) .22 short which ask what the round will be used in then ask for the birthday with the age needed set to 18 or 21 depending on if the answer is rifle or pistol.

It doesn't save anything to the system once the transaction is over though. It's just a prompt to make sure the dumb kids don't sell ammo to minors.

Honestly in my store I tend to just ask for birthdates of the obviously old enough. Still card the youngins though have had a few kids trying to get pistol ammo here and there.

Ammoman.com used to ask for d/l emailed or faxed but I'm on file there,
otherwise you are charged for adult signature (ammo ships free).

Freedom munitions, PSA and Boatch no ID.

Yup. You have a good point there. Sorry buddy. Online is the best if not only option for you.

Defender Ammunition

Veteran owned company in Raeford, NC. I know they carry 10mm, maybe you can get them to do a run of .458? They have limited office hours on Friday and Saturday. I live right down the road from them, PM me if you need help getting there or can't make it in when they have walk-in hours.

That is about 1.5 hours from me. I'm thinking local to the Raleigh area. But good to know. Definitely want to support veterans. I think I may have purchased some .45 acp from them at a gun show.

I went to purchase some generic Sudafed, at Wally World and had to submit to some sort of online clearance, at the register, before I could buy. They said it went live to some Federal system. Had to wait while it cleared. Then I walked over to sporting goods and bought some boxes of .22 by just showing my DL so they could get the birthdate.

Just making sure your not stockpiling to cook meth. It's a crazy world we live in where you have to ID yourself constantly and leave a record for someone to use against you at a later date.

Oh, I know that. Just thought it was ironic that it was easier to by ammo. Just some perspective.

But you do not need any verification to vote

Sportsman's Guide doesn't require an ID. I buy about 99% of my ammo either there or SG. If SG ever offered a 4-pay plan like the Guide does, I'd be homeless.

Yeah...some jackwagons can do a whole lot more harm with a vote than with a box of ammo...and don't seem to understand this. Then there are the OTHER jackwagons who are fine with that...
