I have been cooking more and more outside and it's Chili , Stew and Soup season. It's a great outdoor fire watching beer drinking activity. When I get my awing put up, a TV is going outside too. I made chicken stew last night on a side burner of a gas grill and couldn't quite get my temperature low as I wanted. I compensated by moving the pot so it wasn't directly over the burner, which helped but not where I want to be. One side of the pot had a fast boil at 220 and the other side of the pot was about 185.

I'm trying to find an outdoor burner that I can control my temperature better (lower in my case). Can someone recommend an outdoor burner that will allow me to keep a 12-16 quart pot at 170 degrees or so. I'm looking for something along the lines of the below..... I do have dogs, so I want something that is secure enough that they can't knock them over. I think it's very unlikely because I'm sure the heat would scare them from getting too close , but I need peace of mind.

I saw this and had to go by. To the op that have 12 different sizes and styles like you are looking. Adjustable height one would be perfect.
