Well I couldn't just let it lanquish there any longer. Local pawn shop has had this one for a couple of years and I have looked at it every time I went in there. Today was rescue day! Looks like a 2013 manufacture date, (they were introduced in 2013 and were discontinued in 2019 I believe.) This is the SAS ( Sig anti snag) version so no rail and edges have been softened. 10 rounds of .45 ACP and short reset trigger. Looks almost new doesn't even have a barrel smiley on it. It was bone dry so I lubed it up. It has a nice trigger in DA and SA. Probably replace the night sights with some Sig X Rays. Hope to shoot it in a few days.

Nice snag, it’s disappointed they discontinued the double stack 45.

Yeah, I'm not sure why. Maybe because the capacity is only 2 rounds better than the P220??? I have M sized hands but with the E2 grip and short reset trigger I have no trouble operating this one.

Great pistol. I’ve kept my P227 tactical since I got it around 2014. The P227 uses same mag body as the P320 45 auto. The baseplates are a little different and may affect compatibility but it’s an easy fix.

The 227 was the only authorized primary sidearm in my department when I retired a few years ago (NY). When they discontinued them for the general public, Sig would make limited runs for PD's that still used them.

I have nothing but good things to say about my duty P227 SAS. I didn't love the 10 round, flush-fit limit, but we were allowed to use the TacOp mags if we wished.

Spiffy. Sorta wanted one to go with my 220 but in typical SIG fashion they abandoned them in short order.

Not sure of the parts situation.

I'd still get one if the 'rescue' was cheap enough.

I don't know for sure but looks like most of the parts are the same as any P22X model. Springs, decocker, slide lock, trigger, etc are all the same.

Damn, I want one. I have three P220's, but I learned they had a 10 shot and was like awesome. Then found out they no longer make them. I haven't seen one in the wild. My original P220 was my carry gun for like 20 years. They are excellent firearms.

Made one more change and went to the range for testing. I removed the brand new Sig X Ray sights and installed a set of Trijicon HDs. I can see these much better. I was pleased with the range test. Shot 20 rounds from 7 yards. Mild recoil for a .45 , I really like the P227. I need a little more practice time with it to eliminate the flyers, but well pleased with the gun.

Bumping this to mention that CDNN has a "sale" on supposedly genuine SiG P227 mags. Both 10 and 14(!) rounders for those that may own a 227.

Never knew they made the 14 round mags.

Anybody know of a rescue that's available?

I did pick up a couple of 10 round mags for the 220. Tough to find.
