I swear I have never seen so much content. It opens the whole world up for people who need to research anything, or enjoy anything...and I mean ANYTHING. I'll never have to pay for a movie ticket again. If you get a chance I suggest to go get primed by the "TedXTalks" on YouTube. They are amazing.

I have a Fire Stick and installed Kodi via ES File Explorer. I don't recall seeing anything about Kodi Unlimited. Do tell!

Following this one with interest. We have a couple of firesticks here at home. Along with 3 Roku boxes, a Chromecast and 4 smart TV's......

Lemme link ya. It's a tad complicated, but if I can do it anyone can....takes a lil time too. The name for the build is called "Kodi No Limits Magic". You'll be pausing the video a lot. The guy who's giving instructions is faster than my two fingers :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJgyhVBdXPA Be patient, it takes time to load.

He may be talking about the latest build. Kodi 17

its sweet

This is a build that I loaded after Kodi 17. Check it out.

OK, I have the Firestick w/Kodi, but it is build 15 or something.

How do I get V17?

I don't use this thing a lot, but like to be up to date.

Check out the 8:37 mark on the Youtube video MuzzerFuzzer posted above.

MuzzerFuzzer , I cannot thank you enough for recommending Kodi Unlimited. I had been running kodi on my firestick for just over a year. I upgraded last night to using kodi unlimited. WOW! Huge difference. Thanks

One note of warning that I discovered last night...because of the super quality, it sucks the bandwidth. So if you have more than one kodi device, you may need to go up a couple tiers with your provider.

Is a 802.11n wifi connection to the Fire Stick good enough for 1080p video? Or is it worth the extra $60 to get Fire TV?

I noticed it used quite a bit. I am running a 20mb service and it kept up okay for now. Thank you again Muzzer

Processing power helps also. The box (instead of the stick) or most any of the new android boxes (Matricom G Box) are better at running Kodi than the stick is.

I have to agree. That stick sucks the life so much that you have to clean it after every HD movie. Beats the heck outa not bein able to sit in a theater with a reclining chair, in yer undies with a beer though :)

Just to update this. Another option:

Was just reading something about using a Raspberry pi to install and run Kodi.... Might have to give it a go. Saw the results of running it on a Fire stick the other day and it's impressive.... Content.... Content for days...

Why bother with a Raspberry pi when the Firestick is $40?

The best build is WULLIES MINI BUILD. Best I have seen yet.
Any benefit to installing a build over installing individual add-ons other than convenience?

I wished I knew what language you all are speaking.
I have antenna, but would like to be able to see more.
Is there an intro for dummy's that I could look at?

Never heard of the devilry you speak of.

I've loaded it on the PC,now trying to figure it all out.

This. I first bought a Pi. I'd suggest the box first and the stick second.

You have to have internet service. Search Youtube for numerous How To videos. Look at the link in MuzzerFuzzer's second post or the Youtube video posted above as examples of "builds" for Kodi.

Only issue I run into is brokn and/or incorrect movie/video/show links. We tried to watch Rogue One the other day. The best version I could find was a cam view in a theater. Others were a bunch of links that claimed to be the movie but were just the trailers.

Then we tried to watch Sing. Same thing.

Older movies that are out on DVD, sure it works OK.

I hit a lot of brick walls with trying to watch MLB games last year. They'll show up, but the vast majority of time they'd be unavailable or wouldn't play.

The new "unlimited" version certainly is easier to use. It is a bit of a data hog. Even with a 100MB internet service at my place (which typically only runs at 30-50MBs), it take s afew minutes to warm up and be able to play videos at first. It has to update plugins and such.

It's definitely a cool hack/app for FireStick and helps cut the cord even more. But it' still got some frustrating hang ups and limitations.

By box, I assume you mean Fire TV? If so, why? Because of the faster processor/additional memory or because of ability to use wired ethernet?

I do mean the Fire TV due to better processing power.

I always put in a build and then tweak it with the addition or un installation of add ons within the build. Very convenient, especially when you reload the current versions every few months. .

Makes sense, thanks.

Is this app trustworthy you think? People that enabling you to break the law downloading content you didn't pay for seem like the kind of people that could be using their app to do things you aren't aware of on your computer. Worth thinking about.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner. What's in it for the developer?

If it's free, you're the product.

Kodi media player just runs better on a PC than the fire stick, I've tried firestick and some of the andriod tv boxes, and it makes life easier when you find an addon you want to install on the pc, plus the processing power is much better on your typical pc, for a much smoother experience. I just take the laptop and connect the hdmi to the tv when I want to watch something on the big screen. I installed kodi on the PC, easy to keep updated, and you can customize / pick which add ons you want, no need for a build if you know what you want, as there are certain addons in those builds I don't want on my PC if you know what I mean. A wealth of info about these addons on other sites. Anyway with the PC it's also easy to run a VPN to get content you can't get from an American based IP address.

Have you tried the 2nd gen Firestick? Supposedly the increased processing power makes for a better experience than the 1st gen Firestick.

I have not tried the gen 2 stick. The Amazon box they say runs smooth also. That said the PC is still less hassle than a jail broken fire stick if you like to tinker and keep trying new add-ons.

I guess it's finally time for me to update my Kodi. Going on 2 years without any tinkering, it's getting slow.

Thanks for all the ideas!

Here is the link to the article I mentioned the other day

Got a Pi2. The Ram on the Pi3 (mentioned in the article) is the same as the Firestick and the Pi3 uses a SD card for storage. Ideally you would want something with 2GM RAM and a faster processor (and 16GB storage is a plus). Look at the Matricom G boxes (or any other Android box with these specs) or the Firebox.
