Phew ! Amazon FireStick and Kodi and the New Kodi Unlimited App

Most of you guys already know this, but for those who aren't aware, you don't need a dedicated streaming device like a Fire TV box or Fire Stick. Any computer or any Android phone/tablet (running Android 5.0 or better) or iPhone (jailbroken I assume) can be used to stream to a TV.

Why bother with a Raspberry pi when the Firestick is $40?

Any benefit to installing a build over installing individual add-ons other than convenience?

Kodi media player just runs better on a PC than the fire stick, I've tried firestick and some of the andriod tv boxes, and it makes life easier when you find an addon you want to install on the pc, plus the processing power is much better on your typical pc, for a much smoother experience. I just take the laptop and connect the hdmi to the tv when I want to watch something on the big screen. I installed kodi on the PC, easy to keep updated, and you can customize / pick which add ons you want, no need for a build if you know what you want, as there are certain addons in those builds I don't want on my PC if you know what I mean. A wealth of info about these addons on other sites. Anyway with the PC it's also easy to run a VPN to get content you can't get from an American based IP address.
The gen2 is a bit smoother than the gen1 but I've found the biggest difference comes with internet/router. My gen 1 still works well (in our guest room) but once I got a stronger router and gen2 the difference is night and day. But truthfully I'd say it's probably more router than firestick.
