How about a box 'no phone numbers in your ad' you need to check so it will post.

Is the forum software smart enough to detect phone numbers and automagically send a text?

So I saw Burt’s original message about not putting them and it got me wondering. I could care less if it’s a rule or not, I’m certainly not posting my number in an ad, but if someone is dumb enough to post their own number in their ad, then why would the forum even care?

It affects no one other than the dumbass who posted it, so why would mods want to creat an unnecessary headache for themselves??

You need to get a burner phone and do your special brand of magic.

When word gets out no one would give their number out even in a PM.

Just Do It.

If they put them in after all the warnings, they deserve to be bombarded with spam, etc.
This.

If you’re dumb enough to put your phone number in a public forum, you deserve the spam that comes your way. I unfortunately made that mistake about 20yr ago and the info is archived so I can’t go back and edit it. These days, there’s no excuse for posting your phone number.

I can understand not wanting them in, if the news or some other media calls them to ask for an opinion on some event then it represents the forum. If I were an owner, I wouldn't want anyone other than trusted people (owners) to represent the forum. It also opens up harassment of people and if it could be traced back to the forum that could be bad. There are some internet stalking harassment laws in NC, I assume this helps us with that as well.
