Earlier today Officer King deployed her assigned drone to locate a suspect hiding in a backyard, and then follow right above him as he ran away. Keeping a close eye above the suspect as he ran, Officer King directed responding officers to his location. Flying drones don't get tired - running suspects do. Domestic violence suspect in custody

U.S. v. Causby, 328 U.S. 256 (1946), The Court ruled that the landowner "owns at least as much of the space above the ground as he can occupy or use in connection with the land." (U. S. v. Causby at p. 264.) Everything above was navigable air space, available to the public.

thank god for 20 gauges.

Reminds me of an old Chinese proverb, which roughly translated says
"shoot the operator in the face with a rifle" or something like that.
Really?

You think that is a solution?

You say you are willing to in-danger a law enforcement officer over this?

BTW, you can see how well your "Chinese proverb" worked out for China. The most state ran surveillance spy system in the world.

Enforcement of blatant infringements of basic rights forces good men to do bad things. Whole lot of that is coming down the pipe.

And oh yes, communist China. Might as well invoke Occam's Razor

What basic right is being violated by a drone flying over your home in pursuit of a suspect?

When said suspect is someone who is red-flagged for owning guns and a contrarian viewpoint. Maybe a parent protesting at a school board meeting. Small town cops aren't going to be chasing criminals with drones. Big cities have decriminalized many many 'crimes' as an infraction.
You been asleep for the last 2 years?

Criminals have pretty much free reign in major cities, and even cop-shooters get low bonds. Just happened in CLT.

BTW you shoot down that drone with a 20ga and you're in violated of shooting down an aircraft per FAA guidelines. No bueno.

Does my drone have equal right of way to that navigation space if they accidentally collide? Or did the king give the LEO drone more rights than mine?

You, as a Plebe, have no rights. Less if you are melanin-challenged. When the DOJ says they're defying the SCOTUS rulings, the writing is on the wall.

FAA lady I spoke with said anything above your blades of grass was their space, not yours.

I have had this conversation several times, with property owners and law enforcement.
As a crane operator, I often swing over the neighboring property to the jobsite due to obstacles.
As long as I don't drop anything on or touch anything, you're property ends at your shingles. (Or antenna, trees, chimney ect)
Obviously, I try not to do this for safety but, sometimes it's the only option.
Usually, if I'm going to be there for more then a couple lifts, I'll knock on the door and let the resident know what's happening.
I LOVE the Karen's that call 911
I also Love the Karen cops that have responded in the past.
I will spend extra time swinging whatever I can find just to keep them wound up.
I'm not proud of that now but it's sure fun while it's going on!

Let me elaborate - police are using current tech to catch current criminals. If they arent doing anything to harm you (violating your rights? lol) then why are some upset?
Because they invaded your airspace? ha

Man, when Chicago said they wouldnt pursue suspects people said it was dumb...and I agree.
But then when police use a harmless piece of tech to pursue suspects it's worthy of shooting at it or the operator?
Jesus, are we ever happy?

To put it bluntly, I don’t want the cops on or around my property, period. That goes for their drones too.

If there was a pedo rapist that fled onto your property and you werent home, we're just being hypothetical, would you mind them going after him?
Im using extremes, I know. And Im sorry. But I guess my point is, they arent there for you, they arent scoping out your 'arsenal' or something and going to red-flag you or something. Theyre just trying to catch scumbags.
And I'll say that if you are fleeing the police you, likely, are guilty.

Also - you have ZERO right to them being 'around' your property. If its not yours then what the hell say do you have in it.

Reactions: Me.
I don’t think I have a problem with a police officer running across my back yard in pursuit of someone who’s just robbed a jewelry store. I don’t see how that is different than using a drone, and it’s a lot safer for the cop.

Now Garland’s Goons, Biden’s Brownshirts, the FBI/ATF/EPA etc., spying on everyone to see if anyone has disturbed a stream bank or tied any nooses to their garage door pull ropes, well, that’s different.

Shooting down a drone could land you in club Fed with a felony conviction.

I can't tell if ya'll are joking but we don't promote criminal activity round here.

I don’t want them on my property, period. I don't support having standing law enforcement and don’t like what they represent.

I may not have a say or much of one outside of my property, but I don’t want them around my town either, especially that highwayman that likes to park in town and fuzz the 20mph zone.

Guys, look close at the pic. It's a LEO in Whittier. There are two Whittiers, one in AK and one in CA. I seriously doubt this is in AK due to the foliage, so it's likely in CA so why am I not surprised.

You're probably right but... there is a Whittier in NC beside Bryson City...

Game on, my drone is a beater that will survive a crash, I doubt theirs will survive the battle, let alone the crash haha

Join ANTIFA, I hear they want to defund the police. Or BLM. I dont know, they're all the same, basically.

If you knocked on my door to talk about this ahead of time, you’d be invited in for coffee and probably get sent out with homemade cookies. A jobber who is willing to talk to me beforehand is almost always good in my book.

Can you swing over people? Or is that still off limits?

Since when?

If given a challenge I can quote a dozen posts in the open forum where folks here threaten to murder politicians or "not comply" to all manner of laws.
and im sure most would argue that, in the respective context, its not criminal activity but civic duty.

No we are not ever happy and that my point to all of this.

@HMP "the below text is not pointed at you, but the group"

IF someone does not want X to happen, then go to the local government and get the damn law changed. Thats the whole point of this post, we need to use the tools available to us. AND if the local .gov does not do what we want, fire them when you (me), (us) run for office and change the laws.
