Surprised the wife with an order for a Grand Elite 8 x 12 greenhouse! The kit will be here next week, so I started framing the platform for it.
There will be a bit of a porch on the front end, and a small platform in the back (closest to the house) to store bins for potting soils and such.
Also picked up a 250 gallon container for water collection for the house gutter.
I have power 3 feet away from the back, so the plan is to install one outlet, wire a pump for the water, and a switch for overhead lights.
She's all exited about this project!IMG_0940.jpgIMG_0942.jpg

Great project! Curious why not raise it up and make a doorway from the porch? Gonna block the view anyway. Water tank and storage can then fit underneath.

Not blocking the view really. Peak of the roof will be at the last roof support post, and the main view is about 10 degrees to the right as you're standing on the deck. We do still have lake view to the left, but you'll be able to see over the greenhouse for the most part, but that direction is mostly wooded anyway. The location will catch the most sun available.

Is it cheaper to use a second concrete block than to cut a new 4x4"?
The 4x4 is one of several drops that I had. Too short for almost anything, but too long to throw away. Plus, they will be an anchor point for a bottom horizontal 2x4. The plan is to "underpin" with 5/4 boards vertical, again using drops that I had saved.

Just thought of an alternate use Snal. It would make a good sauna for you and the missus when winter comes.

Looks good Larry. It’s got more ventilation than the little cheapo my mom bought and put on her deck. It literally cooks everything she put in there

I haven't put the underpinning in yet, but with the windows open you can feel the air coming up through the gaps in the deck. Temps are in the upper 80's today, and when I opened the door and went in to open the windows it was too hot to breathe!
