Anybody using the fixed power prism scopes. I pcked one up (burris ar 332) and shot it this weekend. I only got to shoot it at 100 yards, it zeroed easy and seems robust. I think gaining the magnification is worth losing a little on the quickness up close. I might use this for a 2 gun match, or i might just punch paper and pretend i am cool. Which do you guys prefer for say 200 and under, red dot or magnification?

I'm a big fan of prism scopes. I've had the Burris and now have a couple of the Vortex Spitfire 1x. No starburst effect like a red dot. My next one will be a 3x.

With a sample size of about 100 rounds, slow fire off a rest i am liking it. I need to get up and move around with it and see how i do with it. I will say the burris reticle is a little busy, but i am gonna try to use it a little more before i pass judgement.

Seems like every other month Burris is running the special where you buy their prism 3x or 5x and get a free fastfire3. I did that a little while ago, but ended up trading them both off. The 3x seems like it was built like a tank.

I have 2 Vortex Spitfire 1x scopes on two AR's. I've had no problems out of them. Very clear optic, easy to see recticile. More often than not, I use mine with the red/green dot turned off, and use the etched black dot/rings like a standard crosshair.

I've managed to shoot some nice groups at 50 and 100 yards with them, and I've had good luck popping steel at 200 and 300 yards.

I picked mine up used in the b/s/t on here. No free ff3 for me. I'll be ok. Although the scope does have 3 empty rails i have to find accesories for. Cant have unused "railestate".

I LOVE the Votex 1X. Would have a hard time going back to a dot. Hardly ever use illumination.

Burris had their AR1X that was really cool, and they were supposed to design new reticles for them. Unfortunately this never seemed to happen.
Would love to see more options for these.

I use the Leupold PGS (Prismatic gun Sight). It has an etched reticle. At 350m and under it's great. Very quick up close, yet very accurate in slow deliberate intermediate range shooting.
