Asked this about handguns but also just wanted to clarify the law here too. When selling a long gun (shotgun) what is legally required for the seller to do? Is making sure they are an NC resident enough? Thanks in advance

This one will be a lot shorter.

Lol, I also ask of they are a felon or otherwise prohibited. I‘ve made it a habit so if I’m ever asked I’ll know that I did. I’ll never be asked.

The buyer does not have to be a NC resident for you to sell him/her a long gun.

Incorrect sir. Federal law prohibits this.

Federal law?

I've bought two rifles in SC as a NC resident. Please cite the federal law you speak of.
Right…from an FFL.

If it crosses state lines (even virtually), it has to go through an FFL. If it’s a handgun, it has to go through an FFL in the buyer’s state.

May I be of assistance?

Yes. Both through FFLs.

I was taking a swipe at Federal guns laws.
