PSA pistol goes full auto yesterday

In regards to the new members in this forum like myself how are we to know who is who and who does what based off of a reply to a post

@BatteryOaksBilly and his partner @Michael458 have one of the finest privately owned ballistic labs on the east coast and probably the USA. The work they have done is amazing. They have developed at least 8 cartridges that are listed in the book "Cartridges of the World"

I have done work in their lab and consider them great friends. I met them both from being a member of CFF.

Thanks for the info šŸ‘

Thanks Billy. I have 33 years in manufacturing experience and machining. In those 33 years I have made many relationships with machine tool manufacturers, CAD/CAM software companies, and I have been in many manufacturing plants as a vendor or consultant. I know alot of what goes on and where due to those relationships. Not everything, but quite abit.
My background includes professional racing, medical and food processing manufacturing, and firearms manufacturing. I have also designed and built Dept. of Energy compliant outdoor ranges.
I try to share information for the readership here to give everybody real, factual info. Not disinformation or speculation. Others share their expertise and experiences here and I appreciate it.
I wasn't bashing PSA, only stating that having additional QC and valadation during the assembly process would help them achieve an almost zero defect rate. Other manufacturers achieve less than 1% defect rate with much less resources than PSA. They use assembly techniques and methods that are pioneered in the aircraft and medical mfg. QC protocols.
If the OP's gun would have ran away from the operator and shot innocents, the fallout would be very negative. Especially being in the Charlotte metro area, which is not known for its "pro-gun" stance.

D.O.E. compliant range with 23 ft. high berms

Now, let us know who you are and what your resume is.šŸ‘Œ

Who are ya, and what do you do?
Iā€™m just a lowly ballistics quality technician for an ammo manufacturer in sc and a mediocre (at best) garage machinist - you are clearly a much more experienced and more knowledgeable person and Iā€™m more than willing to acknowledge that, the whole reason Iā€™m here is to learn from the people that actually know - Iā€™d like to extend the olive branch to billy Iā€™m not trying to get off on the wrong foot with anyone here I think it was just a misunderstanding and I apologize.

(P.S.) I am absolutely talking shit about psa and some of their operations Iā€™ve had an absolutely negative experience as a customer and more

You are welcome here, and will probably fit in nicely. Your experience is also valid and welcomed. The fact that you have ACTUAL experience with ballistics and quality control speaks volumes. When applicable, share your knowledge with the readership here, it will be appreciated. Maybe even get your employer to become a sponsor of the forum. Im sure they would welcome additional business.
CFF is unlike any other firearms forum... It is actually a pretty tight knit family. We argue and bicker among ourselves like any other family, but at the end of the day, we take care of our own.
Consider reaching out to a moderator and become a supporting member. Your experience counts too, and you will be warmly welcomed as a supporter.

Had that happen with a Plainfield M1 carbine I bought off a buddy I worked with for $349.50 back in circa 2006-2008. He had had it for some years, only had one 30 round magazine which I promptly loaded up and took out to enjoy my new gun. Was talking to my dad about how it wasnā€™t an original but should be fun when I squeezed the trigger and held on as it dumped the full 30 rounds into the embarkment we were shooting into. Thankfully no one was hurt but scared the absolute crap out of me. Ended up being the springs according to the gunsmith I had give it a once over. Never really trusted that thing after that, was always hesitant to let new folks try it without it being only a few rounds loaded at once.

PSA has improved over the years, like any big company theyā€™ve had their issues but have always rectified them whenever Iā€™ve had an issue.

The problem with the gun boards is that it's hard for the layman to determine whether he's talking to the genuine article or just another internet expert unless he has a pretty good understanding of the gun in question. Sometimes we have to ask specific questions in order to identify the ringer...or simply let the "expert" keep talking until he steps into a hole that he can't climb out of.

The other part of the problem is that guy who believes that he understands or 'knows" something that he actually doesn't, and refuses to entertain the possibility that he stands to learn something by listening rather than continuing to dig himself deeper. We've all seen so many of those that it's easy to jump onto someone who is simply trying to learn or to separate the wheat from the chaff.

An example is the guy in a gun shop who was explaining to everyone within earshot that the German MG42 fired so fast that there were three bullets in the barrel at the same time, and would NOT back off his position even when it was gently explained to him that this would be both physically and mechanically impossible...to the point that it started to look like he was ready to challenge a couple of us to a fistfight...so we quietly dropped the subject and let him rant.

Did he at least understand that the brass didnā€™t go down the barrel? Cause whoever works for Discovery Channel didnā€™tā€¦šŸ˜³

The Germans are very efficient people they fire the whole bullet thatā€™s 60% more bullet than their competitors

I have heard of a very similar experience. The only difference is the shooter sought out PSA customer service through email. PSA offered to send a replacement trigger And everything was fixed after that.

Iā€™ve visited their store in SC and was disappointed. Anything I need from them Iā€™ll easily order online to spare myself from simple opinions and unnecessary mansplaining.

The guy behind the counter at Lake Norman today was trying to convince a prospective buyer that the bolt carrier group in his AR upper was going to wear out a polymer lower, and thatā€™s why he needed an aluminum lower.

They keep BCGs behind the counter and I needed one for a build. I told the guy I wanted to buy it and he put my name on a post it and then walked it over to the cashier. He was very nice, and I'm sure it's store policy, but it seemed weird to me that they wouldn't just hand me an item that was less than $100.

To your point though, gun store banter is usually really cringe worthy and PSA Denver is no exception from what I've seen.
