PSA STG-44 are they really doing it?

I want one in a BAD way, I’m still torn on what caliber, but if brass & bullets aren’t ridiculously expensive I’ll get it in 7.92x33 to keep it period correct-ish, otherwise I’ll have to decide between 5.56 or 7.62x39.

I am partial to 7.92x39 as well. Seems like there is reloading supplies available so that makes it an easier choice.
Anyone reload 7.92x33 ?

I'll consider the Gen 7 when it's released.
By then it will have a picatinny quad rail, welded top rail, modular stocks, and will be available in black/green/FDE/anodized red and blue.

For me:
It all depends on how the mag looks. If the 7.62x39 looks closest, getting that one, it probably had the most testing done on it, anyway.
If the 5.56 mag is made to use a similar looking shell, even if a lot of it is empty space, I'd consider that one.

About reliability. If there's anything Forgotten Weapons or C&rsenal have shown, it's that getting the reliability worked out is hard. Like they would test out 5-10k batches of rifles with troops to work out kinks, government arsenals can do that, a lot harder with commercial companies. So I'm not gonna mock PSA for initial problems, that's normal. But I'll probably wait till 2026 to get one. Understanding and accepting are two different things. :p

Based on a few minutes of Google fu I was able to find brass, bullets, dies and reloading data on the 8mm Kurz, I would assume a universal crimp die would work for the caliber.

So as AR10ShooterinNC said above, those components will probably disappear quickly so I imagine someone would be ok if they picked up everything needed right now, if we wait, it’ll be a pain in the butt to keep the rifle fed.

I was surprised to see that the ballistics of the Kurz is pretty close to 7.62x39, its just slightly less powerful.

Actually if they do it in 300, I'll probably go for that. I already have guns in that

Watched an interview with Jamin just a little while ago, and he seemed pretty excited about what they’ll unveil at SHOT ‘24.

I would be interested in 7.62x39 but I got a feeling it gonna be a jamomatic

Been done and died. 5.7 Spitfire aka 5.7 Johnson . 30 carbine necked down to 22
Nifty! Didn't know that. Heck, may as well go 5.56 too.

Been awaiting for these since they announced last year.

Hill & Mac Gunworks used an AR compatible magazine well/dimensions and magazine retention. I do not know if PSA will keep that design, but from a practical point, it would be good.

Interested, but only in the 7.62x28 magazines I paid for from Hill & Mac Gunworks SIX years ago.

I hope PSA, a company I really like, has better luck with Hill & Mac Gunworks than I did.
Didn't they say they were honoring the hmg guns at the original price?

Its hard for a small company to go big like that. I just saw that the Hudson H9, which went out of business around the same time, is coming back from Daniel Defense.

The good-It takes STANAG mags
The Bad-price “north of 2k”
The Ugly-ship sometime in 2024

Bonus: guy in charge looks like the comic book guy from the simpsons

It's pretty cool. I completely understand the price given the complexity and manufacturing side but I won't even consider one at 2k+
