I have both. I’m no expert, and I don’t have a long history with using them. Also, my sample-size is tiny.
If you took the markings off each and asked me which was better, I would not be able to choose. If anything, the PSA has a blacker look to it, but other than that, flip a coin, use either one, fit and function will be the same.
What are your experiences that make you want one over the other? Do you feel the difference matters enough where, if you had a functioning Anderson build, and a spare PSA lower, you’d tear down the gun and rebuild it on PSA (for anything other than looks)? I can see disliking the logo of the Anderson.
1. You said just the same as Noveske. Of which the comparisons are varied and many. Of which someone far more experienced with Noveske products would be easily able to point out.
2. He linked Anderson lowers when this discussion is about PSA lowers. So he was not comparing the same product.
3. I have three ARs built on Anderson, so I am familiar with their products.
4. Anderson has a history of hit or miss quality control. Fortunately, with a lower, it if works, then it works. So you are saving a few (and in the example he provided with the products he linked) if not zero dollars to roll the dice on QC.
5. Sadly, branding matters. Anderson, for better or worse, has an image in the marketplace. If one should ever decide to sell the built AR, the vast majority of buyers would prefer a PSA build over an Anderson.
6. No, I would not break down the ARs I have that are built on Anderson lowers. However, if a PSA and an Anderson were set on a table in front of me, and the cost was the same or even $10 different, I would reach for the PSA easily.
So again...he was comparing two products of nearly identical price, yet one has known quality issues and a poor perception on the market. The other carries nearly none of that weight. You come in with comparing it to a Noveske, which is a completely different animal and would be like comparing a Rock Island 1911 with a Dan Wesson. Yes, still 1911s, but very different at the same time.
