I am teaching this trauma course, and one of the guys, a Navy SOIDC (special operations corpsman), said about veterans "you have to give up friends, family, and faith if you want to be a dysfunctional veteran." I had to laugh, but he's right.

He said that after I told him I just don't like people very much.

Lol... I have my faith, and my friends are all dysfunctional vets as well, so . . .

(And they're mostly family. And no, I don't like most other people either.)

At our medical meeting yesterday, they were talking about trying to recruit more medics, but how most of the military medic requirements don't seem to meet the same standards for what we require (licensing, etc).
One of our paramedics (and i won't say anything bad about her here... but know that I have NOTHING good to say) said "out here in the real world army medics are just emts"

I almost yelled at her on behalf of friends and family. and I believe I heard one of our veteran employees briefly tighten up and then force herself to relax...
