Posted about it in another thread, but I had some issues trying to zero a new scope on my Henry BBX. I was shooting 38 Special instead of 357. I don’t know if the issue was me, the scope, the ammo, or something else.

So before I start wasting ammo again, what’s a reasonable distance for shooting 38 Special? I was trying it at 50yds.

38spl. 35 yards probably. .357 50 yards.
I was gonna stop at 100’, which is where I stopped with my 22LR & 9mm (AR platform, 1X on one and 1.5X on the other). But then I moved it out to 50yd since I had the option for 4X and was zeroing my 5.56 rifles there.

I’ll try it back at 100’, which isn’t much under the 35yds…and that distance will keep it consistent with the others.

Thanks.

.38 ammo is the limiting factor - and twist rate.
1:10 revolver bbls and 158 SWC are fine for 50 yds - slower twists and other bullets struggle past 25.
Rifle velocity of course will help extend range.
