I have a Polytech AK and a bunch of magazines from back in 1987. I also have about 10000 rounds of russian 7.62 that i need to shoot. Im not going to shoot the poly so what ak should i get?

How much money you got to spend? Zastava m70 or maybe a Palmetto State Armory on the low end and Arsenal 107 or sam7 on the higher end. Could also spend 2x an arsenal and get a rifle dynamics AK. You want 16" or a shorty? Mid length? Lol. Supressed? Atlanticfirearms.com usually has some nice imports and some American made stuff.

I have money to spend so i want the best i can have compared to a polytech. I know ar15s but am not as familiar with aks.

Arsenal is going to be very comparable. They're top of the line and also collectable but not like Chinese. Atlanticfirearms.com has quite a few Arsenal offerings. Rifledynamics.com if you really want something extra.

Nothing wrong with a Zastava but if you really don't mind the price go with Arsenal (you said you wanted something really nice).

Also the Polytech guns are pricey because they are rare, as far as I know they are not actually super nicely done high quality AKs, they are basic working AKs that once sold for cheap when they came in by the boatload. Stil don't shoot it at today's market.

My choice would be a WBP. I think it's where price and value meet on a graph. It also has a chrome lined barrel and unlike the Yugos takes standard AK furniture.
If I were going cheap and functional I'd get a WASR or a PSA.
If I were looking to spend more money, maybe a 7.62x39 Beryl.

You could also get a fake spiker to go with your real one.

As more of a collector these days, I recommend that people check out any AK that's made on foreign military assembly lines/factories. I wouldn't be shocked if one day our fed gov't bans the import of AK's as a political measure to 'keep the children safe'.

Yeah, it's only a matter of time before imports get banned which is why I always recommend an import of domestic.

-A WASR is a solid choice. 4 months ago they bottomed out at $630, just as cheap as a basic PSA GF3. Now they're $700ish
-Zastava's are always a solid choice, I just can't stand they have their own proprietary furniture and I can't interchange between my other AKs.
-People seem to really like the quality of WBPs, I have 0 experience.

I can attest that they shoot a lot better than you think they would. That is with iron sights.

I have a WBP Mini Jack. It’s a solid weapon. Thinking about getting a full-size Jack next.

Although its less common its objectively superior.

The handgaurd on standard AKM patterns is too short for me. The Yugo patterns add a good amount of length.

The single inline bolt on the stock seems stronger to me and in some folding stocks you can get the base closer in for less overall folded length.

Just go with a wasr,, if ya want milled go with old arsenal SLR95.
I’ve have had pretty much every Norinco and Poly made made,, Even had 2 NIB 86s’s.
My favorite shooters have always been SLR95 or a milled Mak.
Quality on both those rifles are so much better THAN ANYTHING produced today IMHO
