So Eotech stuff can be pretty pricy, what are some good alternatives of red dot Holographics and magnifiers that aren't quite as expensive? Thanks for any and all suggestions!

Are you still wanting holographic, or are regular red dots in play?

There are some decent magnifiers out there though that can save you some bucks over the Eotech. Holosun and Sig come to mind in particular.
Yea ive been seeing some Holosun stuff a lot lately, ive never heard of them but was thinking about maybe trying them out

The HM3X is regarded as one of the better budget magnifiers for eye relief and clarity. It has a cammed hinge so it can swivel out of the way with no push button. This can be a pro or a con depending on your use case.

I’ve been using the Vortex Micro 3x magnifier on an Eotech EXPS2-0 for some time. That magnifier is great, I don’t see any point whatsoever in spending 2 or 3 times the price for a different magnifier.

Used Eotechs seem pretty inexpensive these days. I’d hold out for that.

Do you shoot past 300-350 yards? If yes, get a model with some of the extra BDC dots.

Nah the furthest I have to shoot right now is about 175 yards

I've mainly used red dots on account of the price, weight, and battery life.

Supposedly the holographics have faster acquisition time on account of your eye being able to focus faster on a holo reticle. They are better for magnifiers because the reticle doesn't expand when you magnify it, just magically stays the same size. I think they also do not project a forward light signature. You have to give up alot for all that though.

Big fan of the Vortex Micro 3x magnifier here and have been using one for quite some time.

Previously used one behind an Eotech Exps2-0 and had no complaints, lately its sitting behind more traditional red dots.

Thanks! I've always wondered what the draw was to EOTech.

I was 100% about to get an Eotech G45 until I got behind one. The eye relief was so bad. I ditched the magnifier idea altogether. I see why they're always for sale...they're just not as cool as people want them to be.

At that distance, you really have no need for much magnification at all. I think a nice 1-4x LPVO would suit you much better, just don't skimp on the glass or mount.

If you're dead set on a magnifier, I'd consider the Holosun HM3X. I tried that one too and the eye relief was much better. Glass wasn't quite as clear as the Eotech but not bad at all. I think the trade off is worth it, and it's a fraction of the cost of the Eotech.

I have a glock 43x and am looking for a decent red dot. By no means can I shoot the wings off a fly but don't want trash. Any suggestions

Holosun if you like Chinese stuff. Trijicon if you don’t.

Where does Trijicon's emitter come from?

I think most of us here would prefer to buy American, but I'm not buying American unless the company puts out a product I want, and are a company I'm interested in supporting. Trijicon doesn't, nor does anyone else. The EPS Carry and 407k beat out anything else with the same footprint. There is a reason you don't see many RMRcc optics out there. It's not the money, people just don't want it.

Don’t know the member personally but this is a very fair deal on a decent optic

Nichia LEDs are Japanese. Seoul is, you guessed it, Korean. Cree is worldwide, but I believe they have some wafer production right here in North Carolina.

China is an enormous player, but they aren’t the only show in town.

Whether or not any of those emitters make their way into optics, I couldn’t say.

For full size red or red/green dot sights, I have or have owned Sightmark, Truglo, Firefield, and one that I bought for, and used on one of my telescopes called Astromania.

For Micro red dots, I have Vortex and GOWUTAR.

Have been very happy with all of these.
