There are SO MANY choices these days for red dots handgun systems. I guess that is a good thing but it sure seems overwhelming to me.

I have a new Bul Amory SAS Tac 4.25" and I'd like to put a red dot on it.
I also have a P220 Legion that is optics ready.

I am not the kinda person that needs the best one but I don't want to put a piece of junk on my pistols either.

I have experience with Holosun and I just looked at a Leupold Deltapoint Pro in the store this morning. I thought the Leupold was nice but I am not sure if the value is there? I have also never used a Trijicon RMR or SRO.

So, any thoughts on what to buy? Any good deals out there?

Holosun for value, trijicon rmr for dumb levels of reliability.

I really enjoy my 407/507s and my RMR. I also picked up a 507 comp recently that is super nice, similar to the SRO I'm concept but probably not quite as nice.

I tend to not buy anything Aaron Cowan doesn't give a thumbs up to, which rules out the DPP.

I’ll be glad to see you a used Deltapoint Pro so that I can replace it with a Holosun green dot…..

Try a couple dots if you can to see if you like a small dot in the 2-3 MOA range or larger dots like the 6-8 MOA range. Then find one in your price range that has decent reliability and a good warranty. They all break at some point.

If possible I would go to a store and look through them at “imaginary” targets to see what you like
I’ve been really happy with Holosun - the fine 2 moa dot in the center allows for precision, but the bigger 32 moa circle really isn’t as big as you think when engaging targets at 5-25 yards. Very fast target acquisition

For those two sized pistols I would recommend the Trijicon SRO with the 5 MOA dot.

The SRO has a large window which is helpful in seeing more of the Target and keeping you Target focused.
The 5 MOA dot is easy to pickup in the window.

If you wanted something smaller, the Holosun EPS with the 6 MOA dot is a good option.

If you still have good eyesight you could use a smaller dot size in the SRO or the EPS

Just as an aside, Fast Coin #24 was won last May in Franklinville,NC by a gentleman using a Glock 17 and an SRO.

Thread jack.
i video myself doing the FAST drill every time I go shoot, not thinking I'll get the shoot fast enough to get a coin, but just to see on the off chance I get close/improve my time. I for the life of me cannot get faster than a 7.0x reliably. I've hit 6's a couple times, but not consistently. That's a tough drill.

Solid answer/advice.

I bought a DPP and instantly returned it. It felt so light and cheap.

I used to use nothing but Triji RMR's, but have switched to Holosun exclusively now because of the reticle choices. I use my stuff pretty hard, and the Holosun's have held up extremely well. I actually haven't broken one yet, but have broken a RMR once, but Trijicon made good on it at no cost to me a few years ago.

Sadly, Trijicon’s lack of support/warranty has diminished their appeal.
I’ve had good experience recently. I bought a scratched RMR here on the forum with the expectation that id send it back to the company for an out of pocket cost repair. To my pleasant surprise Trijicon sent me a brand new upgraded model at no cost to me.

I have a Vortex something or other $200-$300. Nice dot. Dragonfly that came with Prodigy. Too low but decent sight. Had a Burris Fast Fire that was OK but dot was hard to pick up on the draw. Anything Trijicon is good to go. Taller is better and bigger dot is better. Just my 2 cents

The DPP is not a duty optic, I use them on match and target guns. Aaron gives great info.

good video...makes me second guess ordering the SRO the other day. But, I can always go with the Holosun as my next purchase!

I want to buy an SRO. This video points out better glass and the big obvious, for me, made in the USA. What worry’s me is getting stuck with an uncomfortable dot, and I’ve got it in my head I want a green dot, not red.

^ This. If you want to keep it simple, not be overwhelmed, and go where the value is, Holosun all the way. KenziesOptics.com has them in stock, free shipping, no tax, and they have a 10% off discount code when you put in (first three letters of the month)10 (so MAR10 for March). They use the same footprint as Trijicon RMR, so if you ever decide to spend more money to try Trijicon out, you don't have to change plates and can use the same direct-milled slides. Which is good because RMR is the most common red dot footprint.

So, I just checked Kenzies to see what they were selling the 507C for and got sidetracked looking at the RMR HD 02. Seems like that have solved the problem with bottom loading batteries, 3.25 MOA dot seems about right, and looks to be built like a tank. Only problem I can see is it costs $300.00 more than the Holosun. Has anyone here used on of these? And is there a reason I shouldn't wait a bit to save up the extra $$$?

That $300.00 would buy a lot of Ammo.
I would suggest that you buy the SRO, the 507 Comp, or the 509T (not ranking them in any order) and use the extra money for Ammo.
After a 1000 rounds you will be in Red Dot Nirvana.

That's about what I was thinking too . At some point you can reach the point of diminishing returns on your money.
