Got my two best BP rifles fired today... they were loaded for two years, and after cleaning the touch holes, they still wouldn't fire. I really, really didn't want to use the bullet puller on the ramrod.

The Pedersoli Kuntucky Hunter cap buster only needed the touch hole screw removed, powder poured in, screw reinstalled... then it fired it jus' fine.

The Lyman Deerstalker lefty flinchlock wasn't that easy. Removed the lock, then the touch hole screw, poured in powder, reinstalled screw and lock. The pan would fire but it wouldn't go off. So, I removed the lock and touch hole screw and put a match to it... Bang!

Now I gotta make up some cleaning solution and get 'em ready for another load.

I loaded 'em and hunted several times with them, but never shot 'em... kept meaning to fire 'em, but didn't. Life got in the way. Then I figured I'd fire 'em and charge 'em again this year, so I could use 'em to hunt, but they wouldn't.

Whenever I use the bullet puller screwed on the end of a ramrod, the T handle comes off and the screw rips out of the bullet. I like this way more better!

I did the same when I loaded a dry ball (no powder). Just took off the nipple and worked a little powder in; it was enough to choot the ball out. Never seen a bullet puller work worth a d*mn.

I usually pull mine at the end of the season if I haven't shot it. I know a lot of people have troubles using a puller but I have pulled dozens without any problems. I think one of the problems might be not screwing the threads in far enough the first time. A lot of the production guns have a patent breech so you don't need to worry about scratching your breech plug.

Haleh, you must have titanium ramrods with holes to accept a cross pin to turn 'em... jus' sayin'!

BTW, my two rifles have bright bores now, lookin' bran' new!
