Remember, it could always be worse...

Whenever I get a new neighbor or meet a newbie from up north/left coast, I always tell them “Welcome. Please don’t forget why you left.” I cannot stand it or understand it when people try to replicate all the problems they had voting for liberal policies and politicians once they arrive, especially after they bad mouth high taxes, infringed freedoms, and gridlock politics.. The definition of ‘insanity’ & all...

I escaped LI NY in 1990, nice to see other like minded folks at the ranges who are also not from these parts.:)
BTW, I knew Rocky My. was the HQ for Hardee's in 1975 before they left the NY area.

Why would anybody Stay in a place like that? Serious question. If somebody chooses to Stay in a place like that why complain? Mass, Conn, NJ, NY, IL, Ca how do people live like that? I swear I would rather be dead than live every day under those states conditions.

If they all leave, then who will take up the fight for them?

I get it that people ought to move to places where they feel their freedoms count and are honored, but everybody flat out leaving over this is capitulation. It does nothing but further solidify those in power in the places where they left and enable them to spread their diseased outlook further beyond their borders.

I have a great neighbor across the street. He’s a retired cop from Long Island. When I met him standing in the street he was telling me had been here twenty years.
He said, "I can’t help that I talk like this. I’ve tried to stop". :D

I got close to CA once, but came to my senses. I was hauling 25 lb wheels of pot out of New Mexico bringing it back to NAS Norfolk. Me and a buddy looked like Cheech & Chong except for the high & tight Navy haircuts.. I had a 53 Dodge panel truck with a Rambler layback seat & bead curtains, hanging incense burners. Had a 56 Chrysler hearse flathead in it. Lord that was a hippie wagon we hauled a lot of pot in that old truck.

  • A couple of years ago, I was with a buddy on a road trip from Las Vegas on our way to Tombstone, AZ. There was road construction and we missed our turn and ended up in CA. We had to go east a few miles in I-40 to reach the border. My buddy and I both were armed and we had other guns in the vehicle with us. I sure was relieved when we reached the border and crossed it.

Horry is not without it's problems, No place is perfect. The weather is Grand, this year we are actually having a Spring! Property taxes on this compound are less than $600 a Year. This includes an old age exemption but even without it the tax is not a burden.
If you want to assimilate they are building 250 houses less than a mile from us. Come on down and shoot with us. WARNING...the first time you say something about "back home" we'll feed you to the catfish:p
