Looking for ranges over 200 yards. I’m near Charlotte and it seems hard to find some. Have a couple rifles I would like to sight in. Thanks for everybody’s help!

We've got 300 at Watuagu Gun Club here in Boone. $250 first year. $200 thereafter. Have to attend the range brief/tour (@2-3 hours on a Sunday afternoon) first year and attend 1 meeting a year.

I haven't been there, but foothills looks like a great place to shoot.

Except, the rules, when and where you can shoot.

Example:

  • Range 1–250-yd Precision Rifle 10 lanes. Targets at 100, 150, 200, and 250 yards. Opens Tuesday-Friday at 12:00, Sat at 9:30 am, Sun at 1:30 pm. All firearms must qualify at the 50-yard range first.
  • Range 2–20-yd Handgun 12 lanes (Open weekends. Handguns are shot on Range 3 Tuesday-Friday.)
  • Range 3–50-yd Rifle & Handgun 18 lanes (Moveable targets up to 50 yards. Becomes rifle only on weekends.)
And I think you have to qualify each rifle, not sure about that

If you can settle for 200, there's Piedmont Handgunners. A lot of members here who could get you in for the day as a guest.

Greetings neighbor.
In case you haven't figured it out yet... Hyatt Farms in Polkton is pretty close to us, open to the public, and about the best deal in the area. Rates are reasonable ($50 for the entire day, $20 after 3PM) and you have the run of the rifle (600 yds!) and pistol ranges (skeet and clays, too, if you want to pay extra for that). Even the annual memberships are reasonably priced.
Like you, I'd love to find a land owner around here that was down with such activities, but haven't had any luck yet. Still looking, though.
