Looking at the Bergara B14 HMR. Anyone have any experience? Is this a good rifle or should i be looking at other options?
General/all purpose mostly hunting some long range shooting. Mostly 500yds or under. Ive mostly been looking at this one and the savage 110 desert tactical.Well, given the vast amount of information you've provided, I'd say yes, you ought to buy a rifle. =)
- What are you using it for? Bench, Hunting, Games/Comps, SHTF, General Purpose/Do-it-all...
- Carry it all day or from the trunk to the bench?
- What's important to you feature wise?
- Budget?
- Caliber?
- Factory ammo or reloads?
- etc....
Id either want a 6.5 creedmoor or a 308General/all purpose mostly hunting some long range shooting. Mostly 500yds or under. Ive mostly been looking at this one and the savage 110 desert tactical.
I really liked the stock and the looks of it.I have a Bergara B14 Hunter in .308 that I love and have several friends that love the HMR. The only issue I have heard of is the adj cheek rest ona friends rifle came loose and was lost on a deer hunt. Likely operator error but Bergara sent him a new one no questions asked.
What stock would you reccomend? McMillian? Those Bergara's have a great rep. If I went with the Savage (I've had a couple), I'd budget for an aftermarket stock/chassis. I had stellar results with a Savage FCP and an MST HS3 chassis - like .5 MOA good.
I'd also look into the Tikka T3 line.
Yeah. For under a grand it will be extremely tough to beat.Just handled the Bergara.
Get. It. Now.
In what way? Damn sure wasn’t the bolt and trigger...It made the CTR feel all kinds of cheap.

Yeah I think the Bergara definitely has the edge there. Though truth be told, 95% of shooters couldn’t shoot beyond the accuracy potential of an off the shelf Tikka. Or Bergara. Or Ruger. Or Savage. Hell, manufacturing is so good and consistent these days it’s hard to find a rifle over $300 that isn’t pretty good, even with the factory tupperware.Mostly the stock is what I'm referring to. The actions on both were good with a slight nod to the CTR.
