I'm in Winchester VA at the Rawlins-Peterkin Range at Ft. Shenandoah. Several of us are having breakfast biscuits from the Ruritans. The morning mist is hanging on the range. In one hour, the open fire horn will sound on the carbine match and over 800 guys in the first relay will add to the mist. Yesterday, we shot the smoothbore match and our bunch of misfits finished 9th out of 30 teams in our class.

Pictures? I want GoPro video!!!

Man Iā€™m green with envy. Went up there once as a spectator decades ago and have never made it back

Calm before the storm. Targets hung. Guns ready. We're short a couple guys so it's going to be a target rich environment.

Just got the results. We shot in A2 Carbine. With us handicapped by shooting as a 5 man instead of 8, we at least weren't last place. When we have a full squad, we're very competitive.

Just cruised through Sutler Row. I bought a new mold from Moose and scored a 20lb casting pot for $15. Visited Back Creek and restocked my powder magazine with Swiss 3f. Currently have my 88yo dad in an air conditioned restaurant cooling off. He got a bit overheated during the carbine match. It was hot on the line and he had his 1863 Sharps sizzling. Great fun. Looking forward to the Celtic Jam tonight and the drums and fifes. Beer and campfire cruising are the evening sgenda

looks like you caught a magic moment right there right then

Last night, roaring campfire, friends, good beer, lightning storm in the distance over West Virginia. Civil War drums and fifes in the distance.

This morning calorie and caffeine intake. Setting up for musket match. First, Sunday ceremonies then it's on. Light breeze from right to left. Gonna suck for those guys at positions 1 to 30. We're on 42 so it shouldn't be too bad. We're short 3 shooters so another target rich environment.
