No can see
Fully agree. I never met Chuck, but I've always respected who he was and his accomplishments. The thing I remember most about him was when asked about caliber choices, he basically said any time he shot someone with .45ACP it worked. Then, later on he said the 9mm was effective as well. It was then I realized it wasn't the caliber, it was the man. After thinking about this since first reading this terrible news I would like to say one thing about "Trainers". I am sure this might ruffle some feathers, be that as it may this is my observation from a half century plus in serious shooting study. ..
Expect what you pay for..if you are in need of fundamentals there are many shooters that can be of service to you. Some will charge you, some won't. Some will be More helpful than others.
What do you want training for....to shoot in matches or to even be Competitive in matches there are folks that can help you do both those thing. Yes, they are 2 different things.
If you want instruction like Chuck Taylor provided there are a Very Few that can provide that. You will need to seek out a man that has heard the ssssss.Zap of a supersonic round as it passed his head. A sound like no other, a sound of a death warrant with your name one it. Thankfully we have access to those men right on this forum. I am Not one of them. I love and respect these men for what they have exposed themselves to for me to be able to shoot freely, anytime I want to on my range.
Just sort out in your own mind what kind of training you want. Don't think that these two above things overlap...they do not. A great pistol shot may be useless in a gunfight. He might in fact be the first person shot. That is where you need to seek out the hard men. I call them The Blood Trainers. It may be necessary to put aside your differences with some egos you will come into contact with. Just remember, these men have seen and done things that you Never want to see or be involved in. They are by nature different from most folks. They may be blunt, profane or loud. Don't be turned off by this. If they are Boastful or demeaning to students, quietly pack up and Leave.
Chuck Taylor was one of these battle hardened killer of men. They are different. Decide what you want and seek out That man. I am at best a teacher of fundamentals. That said I am not a Good teacher. I do not suffer fools and argumentative know it alls well.
Chuck is gone, he was born the same year as me. The same year as Hackathorn. I certainly do not put myself in their category but I have been in their company and for that I will forever be grateful.
Choose wisely. Fundamentals, match shooting and Fighting for Blood. Get the right person….it can change your life! I know.
He was a Weaver stance shooter and the Weaver is a very bladed stance.RH shooter, left eye dominant?
