I bought a used Braztech import Rossi 92. 357 carbine from a guy in Texas through Gunbroker several years ago. It was listed with a replacement buttstock because the seller said he had misplaced the original one.
It came with a full buckhorn rear sight which I really didn't like. When I was digging through my spare parts box today for something I came across a rear sight from a long gone Marlin 336 and decided to swap sights on the Rossi.
Much to my surprise the buckhorn rear sight was covering up four tapped scope mount holes, pretty deep ones at that!

I just saw that this is a factory Rossi thing and that mounts exist for it!

looks like the two towards the receiver are on the tapered portion of the barrel? not sure if you can get a base to fit that.

Rossi sells a rail for the 92.

After I wrote the original post I saw that this is a Rossi factory D&T and Steve's guns has a scout mount for it

Here's mine in .45 Colt.

I replaced the bolt mounted safety with a peep sight. Mine came from the factory in scout configuration. I took the scope and rail off for a bit and I lost the original Rossi rail along the way somewhere. Replaced with a different brand and it is actually slotted down the center so I can effectively use the peep sight when the scope is off. I have the scope in Warne QDs for that purpose.

Edited to add: The rail I have is from NOE Bullet Molds and the rear peep is from Steve's Gunz.

I've got the SS in 45 Colt with the rail from Steve's and an inexpensive reflex on it.
Makes for a handy package that packs a punch.. Lookin to SBR this one for use with the can.
And while I agree with FishHunt about the looks, us geezers gotta do what we gotta do.. 👨‍🦳

That’s what my 44 will look like when I get back home. It will have a 20 inch barrel.

I got a mount off of Ebay and a Bushnell red dot from Amazon. Took it to the range this a.m., stood out 30 ft from the target and fired a shot. You can see the result. Is that amazing or what?

I then sighted it from a rest a 25 yds and got a good zero. The utility of the red dot sight and the ability to shoot with both eyes open and hit the target (clay pigeons in this case) with ease just blew me away. I know, welcome to the 21st century and all that. Great fun!

Link of the ebay mount please?

Those lever actions with red dots are so wrong, yet they make so much sense. I am conflicted….
Agreed.
A scope ruins the svelteness of a lever gun.
But not to the extent that "loss of eyesight" does.
A red dot is a good bit less obtrusive. 👨‍🦳
