Just got two. They are both garbage. Loose fit. I can actually shake one of them right out of the rifle. This of course causes FTF from the word go, etc. I got the Ruger branded mags because I figured that they would be good to go being an OEM part. I should have done some research because there are a bunch of videos on the tube about that very subject.

I really don't feel as though I should have to fix something like that right out of the box. It seems they use a very weak spring in the plunger that holds the mag in place.

Any suggestions?

Can't go wrong with the 10 round mags. I did get one of the Tri Mag coupler for mine.

Contact Ruger
Contact whoever you bought it from
Return it to where you bought them

Couple great options here
You definitely shouldn't accept that kind of crap quality out of a factory mag.

Definitely unacceptable. They're going back to Gunmag Warehouse tomorrow. Not their fault, except that the mags are crap, but they don't manufacture them.

Any chance they are not genuine Ruger?

They appear to be real, although they came in plastic baggie sleeves, not a clamshell or anything like that. They were sold as genuine and they appear to be the same mags I've looked at a hundred times in the B&M stores. I've purchased from Gunmag Warehouse before and had no issues.

There's enough on the subject out there to lead me to believe that they are the real McCoy.

I really only wanted them because Mrs. bought me an ATI tacticool style stock for the 10/22 and I wanted to complete the look.

I'll probably just put a cheap red dot on it and call it a day. Maybe that trimag setup just for chuckles. It just doesn't look right without something hanging from the mag well. One of the reasons I got the basic 10/22 carbine was that there are a lot of options as far as accessories and such. Kinda like getting a new rifle, but not really.

Every BX25 I've ever purchased was in a clamshell. Interesting.

another thing to consider.... on the 10/22 the stock is an essential part of the mag well. Meaning the receiver comprises the front and back of the mag well with the sides open. Therefore, stock dimensions at the mag well are also critical. Did you try the mags in the original factory stock?

I have some stocks that are tighter or looser than others. One in particular that is a factory stock that once had difficulties releasing 10 round mags because it was on the tight side.

I have five and they run fine in my ZK-22 bullpup by Aklys Defense.

I didn't think of that. No problems with the 10 round mags in it, but since it takes just a few minutes to swap out the stock, I'll give it a try.

New Ruger bx25 mags come in a clam shell like this

Interesting, I have to call Ruger anyway about my LCP. I'll ask if any fakes are out there and what if any online retailers they are aware of that sell dubious merch.

I have 4 BX25 mags and BX 15's too, and likely 15 10 round rotary Ruger mags. I own 5 10/22's. They generally have run well for me. Not quit as reliable as the 10 round rotary mags but I don't Have any real issue with them. They lockup pretty tight in the 5 10/22's I have. I do only shoot the rotary 10 rounders in rimfire matches.

Not packaged in the Ruger OEM packing smells fishy though.

If you want another larger mag for the 10/22 I have always had good luck with the Butler Creek Steel Lips and Hot Lips mags.
