Ruger announced today they will be releasing their first Marlin lever action rifle. The rifle being released is the 1895SBL in 45-70. Delivery should begin in December 2021! They have made some upgrades to the barrel, but left the side safety. See press release below.

I notice that they seem to be ditching the microgroove rifling. I understand that microgroove does not do as well with lead bullets as more standard rifling. My Cowboy rifles and my 45/70s do not have microgroove, but my 336 in 30/30 does. It would be nice to have a 30/30 that is happy with cast bullets.

I want this identical gun in 1894 .41 mag !!

are they keeping the model 60 22lr

Good question. First thought, probably not. Wold be competition for the 10/22. The lever action lines do not compete against any of Ruger’s current lines. Actually they will complement their Single action revolvers. But again, just my first thoughts. No actual evidence to support them.

I think keeping the model 60 would give them two of the top 3 selling 22lr semi autos (10/22 model 60 and S&W 15-22 )

Nice thing about the cross bolt safety is that a $19 Safety Delete from Beartooth Mercantile replaces it.
I just put a black O-ring around it so that it stays off and does not show the red band. I have enough other lever actions without a safety so I want to be able to use them all the same way without worrying about which has a safety and which does not. Along the same lines, the tang safety on my Japanese M92 Winchester always stay off.

I remember hearing that the big bore 1895s would come out first then the 60 would make a return eventually. Wont be before the end of the year.
