Ruger Blackhawk

I'm going to say No, the BH grip frames are not as friendly as the Colt is. The BH is bigger and bulkier to me. The BH does have a similar way of being a naturally good point and shoot feel and does have good ergonomics for reaching the hammer naturally but it does not feel as good as a Colt style. The BH is a "Tank", big, heavy, over built, can take anything you throw at it and the grip frame reflects that.

The new model Vaqaroes are much more similar to the Colts and feel like it in the hand.

Thank you. This is exactly what I wanted to know.

I’ll be sure to hit you up if I do but I’m thinking that it has a home here.
It’s becoming my “farm” gun.
Now, to just find a 4 5/8” .357/9mm convertible…,

That’s some sharp looking leather there! The iron ain’t too shabby either..,,,
Holster and belt are lined with buffalo hide and is soft as a baby’s butt. Jackson’s Leather in Asheville does a great job.

Nice leather from Jackson's there.
John Jackson is a member of my FoNRA committee, and a great supporter of the FoNRA program. Great guy! I'll pass along the good comments here.

The discussion about the feel of the grip frame of a Colt vs a Blackhawk is always interesting.
Why?
Well, it's a very subjective discussion. Everybody has a different hand shape, and what works very well for one person may not work at all for another person. The only way to determine what truly works for YOU is to actually handle & shoot them. And the Ruger Bisley shape can be a different one to consider as well.
Then there are custom grip panels, again, made to fit YOUR hands. Many are the older custom grips made with a palm swell on the r/h grip to feel better to the owner. Elmer Keith loved his "steer head" cut into a few guns. That raised steer head filled his palm.

Everybody has preferences,, and grip design, as well as weight, or caliber often create some lively discussions.

Simple answer; "Buy as many as you can, with all kinds of grips, frames, calibers & enjoy them all!!!" :D :D

Here is another option for grip frames for Rugers. Ronnie has a great selection of options for grip frames.
