Had shims on the hammers but seems my SRHs all have a lot of clearance.
Hammers can still scuff frame walls so ordering thicker shims.
Even .008” on each side doesn’t keep the hammer completely clear.

You could always thin the hammers.

Just sayin'...

May want to check the pivot hole in the hammer. May be out of round.

Just excess side play, easy fix with shims. Thinning the hammer won't fix it unless you inlet just the upper half - widening the upper frame gap would work but why grind on the gun when a few $ in shims gets it done.

Love Rugers value and tank like construction but they all need some TLC like this.

Interesting. We have two stainless Security Sixes, the 6” I bought in 1979 and then had Rich Fried of Rockville, MD custom-tune to insanely light single AND double action trigger pulls (wife declared, ”Oh, this one is MINE” after her first half a box through it, when we were just dating!) and a stock 4” I bought just last year, for purely sentimental reasons …

BOTH show wear marks on left side of hammer and those marks have always bugged the bejeebers out of me!

ETA: always a good read (“…in 1975 stainless steel versions of all models were added to the lineup…”) : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruger_Security-Six
